**Role & Job purpose**
As A J Morrisroe & Sons continues to grow and develop we are looking for enthusiastic formwork apprentices. As a formworker, you prepare falsework that provides temporary support structures for forms and undertake formwork. This includes making panels and accessories that mould to form a desired shape with concrete, such as slabs, support beams, columns and walls.
If you are successful you will join the Formwork Apprenticeship programme for an 18 month period.
**Job dimensions**
As an apprentice your role is as a trainee; however we expect you:
- To work and train under the direction, guidance and supervision of an experienced formworking mentor.
- To represent A J Morrisroe with pride and professionalism
- Positively and actively participate in all aspects of your learning, training and skills acquisition.
- Treat your colleagues, mentors and managers with respect
- Take responsibility for yourself and others regarding safe working and Health & Safety standards and practices
- To represent A J Morrisroe at skills shows and other events
**Tasks and responsibilities**
- As an A J Morrisroe & Sons apprentice you will be trained to carry out the following tasks (these will vary depending on where you’re working):
- Assemble and fasten materials to make framework, falsework or props
- Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws
- Build, repair and assemble formworks and falsework structures
- Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Learn to interpret verbal and written instructions and information
- Erect and dismantle proprietary formwork systems like Doka etc
**Skills & Attributes**
- Demonstrable interest in and a commitment to becoming a formworker
- Honest, trustworthy and respectful - Flexible and committed
- Demonstrates a sound work ethic - Excellent communication skills
- Previous experience in construction required
- Willingness to work across London
**Reporting relationships**
- On site: Report to the apprenticeship manager and the formwork mentor.
- At College: Report to your college tutor and attend college as per the agreed schedule.
**Working Conditions **As an A J Morrisroe & Sons apprentice your job can be physically strenuous and demanding. You will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects. Your job means working in all weather conditions, and you must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold.
