Working Style: Anywhere worker

In line with Essex County Council’s Ways of Working, this role has been deemed as an ‘Anywhere Worker’ position. This means you can work remotely for the majority of the time, with occasional trips to the office, based on business or wellbeing need. Any travel to the office would be at your own expense. More specific details about this can be discussed at the interview stage, should you be invited to interview.

The Role

ECC Adult Social Care is making a transformational shift from a focus on long-term care support, to a model with four key principles: prevention, early intervention, enablement and safeguarding. Enabling people, to access information and tools, to live independently and allowing a positive response to growing service demand in a sustainable way, within the financial constraints of ECC

For this position you will be studying towards a Business Administrator Level 3 or Customer Service Level 2 qualification via Adult Community Learning (ACL).

The Opportunity

This role will focus on supporting the Placement Team with the delivery of effective, routine administrative support, with the opportunity to learn the basics of Placement and shadow team members to understand the activities and different roles within the team. Educated to GCSE level, this presents an opportunity to learn more about working in a business and in a team environment, developing a good understanding of existing systems and processes, while providing support to the wider team.

**The starting salary will be the National Apprenticeship Wage, £4.81 per hour. After 12 months service the salary will increase to National Living Wage (currently £9.50 per hour, dependant on age).**

Accountabilities

You will assist with the delivery of routine administrative tasks, dealing with day-to-day work including (but not limited to):

- Inputting data from source documents into the relevant recording system, checking the accuracy, verifying and correcting data
- Telephone calls
- Maintain your own diary and work pattern management
- Photocopying/ scanning
- Sending letters and dealing with incoming post
- Attend meetings with team colleagues and Managers, either in person or by video
- Working from home or in an office space
- Work alongside other administrative assistants and apprentices who will train you and support you through the day-to-day work
- Dealing with Placement correspondence in a timely, consistent and professional manner
- Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework
- Follow ECC policies and procedures for task completion and our expected standards of behaviours

The Experience You Will Bring:

- Due to the Apprenticeship standard, you will need to attain a Level 2 Functional Skills in both Maths & English by the time of End Point Assessment (EPA) (if you do not already have this)
- It is essential for any applicant to meet the minimum criteria of Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths and English (or equivalent), which is a Grade D/E or 2/3 to begin the Apprenticeship Standard
- Experience in a working environment is helpful, but not essential
- A "can do" attitude is a must
- Experience of working with IT systems including Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new systems is important
- Excellent communication skills are essential as well as an ability to build and establish relationships
- A good phone manner is needed along with a friendly approach
- You need to be well organised and reliable
- Educated to RQF level 2 (GCSE) or equivalent by experience
- Ability to take ownership of work and fulfil agreed commitments
