Job Title: Assistant Buyer

Reports to: Head of Operations

Date: Apr 2023

**Purpose of Role**
- The overall responsibility of the Buyer is to support the purchasing team within ASL/Zenitel

**Key Responsibilities**
- Support the purchasing team in the development of product category strategies by undertaking market analysis and research.
- Collate Request for Quotation (RFQ) responses and complete costing sheets
- Support buyers in the critical path management of pre-production samples for new tenders managed by the procurement team
- Manage supplier Invoice Queries and resolve in agreed timescales
- Understand and deliver to stakeholder requirements
- Produce and maintain information on suppliers and undertake due diligence on new suppliers
- Liaise with suppliers on quality problems in conjunction with company quality standards
- Maintain technical reference files for all bought components and related suppliers
- Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications
- Ensure compliance to company guidelines and to purchasing policies and procedures during supplier negotiations and contracts
- Comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policies

**Knowledge & Experience**
- Experience of working closely with suppliers
- Experience with using Microsoft access database, Excel, and Macros skills for report generation
- Previous experience of working in a purchasing team preferably within a manufacturing environment would be _**desirable**_
- Experience of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) / Materials Resource Planning (MRP) is _**desirable**_
- Knowledge of reading Technical / Mechanical drawings is _**desirable**_
- Knowledge of product categories and markets including manufacture processes and costs, product make-up’s, specifications and raw material costs would be _**desirable**_

**Education & Qualifications**
- 5 GCSEs grade 9 - 4 including Mathematics and English
- 1-2 years of buying experience
- Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or similar qualification or studying towards CIPS qualification would be advantageous
- Relevant business/commercial or manufacturing/engineering desirable

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £22,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
