**Main Responsibilities**
To assist the Management Team and provide professional leadership and management to
Nursery staff, ensuring all children receive the highest standards of care and education in a safe and stimulating environment. In addition, you will also:
- Ensure inclusive play and learning opportunities for all children attending the setting.
- Ensure a safe, stimulating and enjoyable environment that meets the needs of all children.
- Ensure a child centred approach is fundamental to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and development of every child.
- Initiate and oversee curriculum planning and observation cycles.
- Support management and staff with the planning, delivery and monitoring of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework to achieve desirable learning outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with associated statutory legislation and Ofsted requirements/standards, whilst delivering high quality teaching and care.
- Ensure that all Setting safeguarding and health and safety policies and procedures are followed and are reviewed and adapted accordingly.
- Ensure a programme of ongoing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) is maintained to develop, enhance and strengthen best practice, both personally and across the Setting.
**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Actively participate and provide a high level of care that will enhance the children’s general health and wellbeing. Take the time to listen and respond to the children and encourage their participation.
- Promote and maintain an inclusive culture and environment. Provide equal opportunities for all children and families within the setting, whilst ensuring individual children’s needs and circumstances are known and met through the care and education provided.
- Implement and oversee the key person system within the rooms/setting and ensure that children’s progress is regularly observed and effectively assessed. Keep informative, accurate and up-to-date records, including records of progress and any behavioural or developmental concerns. Create clear next steps for all children to ensure they continually develop at their own rate.
- Supervise the children and protect them from dangerous and harmful situations.
Ensure a safe environment for all. Equipment must be safe, standards of hygiene high and safety procedures adhered to at all times.
- Recognise and act upon children’s additional or special educational needs and ensure staff support these children effectively. Ensure all activities consider the
Special Education Needs (SEN) Code of Practice, Child Protection Procedures and promote equal opportunities.
- Recognise and support any gaps in children’s development and put procedures in place to close these gaps.
- Keep Tapestry online learning journals up to date including, observations, wow moments and assessments for all key children.
- Ensure all parents receive regular feedback on their child’s development and progress. Actively seek feedback from our families to ensure methods of communication meet their needs and are effective.
- Support children with their self-care and change nappies as and when required, following associated policies and procedures.
- Oversee the general hygiene and safety requirements of all staff i.e., emptying potty, removing risk, and ensuring the resources are looked after appropriately.
- Oversee the preparation of breakfast, snacks and afternoon tea, ensuring that all children’s dietary, allergy and cultural needs are met.
- Promote a good working relationship with external agencies involved with our children’s/families’ welfare.

**Salary**: From £11.20 per hour
