- Research & Enterprise at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint to the post of Concrete Technologist.- Queen’s University Belfast in partnership with Tobermore Concrete Products Ltd have an exciting employment opportunity for a graduate to work on a project to develop innovative low carbon concrete mixes with high volume cement replacement materials through thermal activation and alkali activated binders suitable for use in two-layer paving blocks. The project will demonstrate comparable strength development, durability, and service life across relevant exposure environments.- This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Civil or Structural Engineering graduate to work in Tobermore Concrete Products Ltd (Tobermore, Magherafelt) on a 36-month collaborative project with Research & Enterprise at Queen’s.**The KTP Associate will lead on the delivery of the following key project stages under the guidance of company and academic supervisors**:

- High volume GGBS concretes - optimum GGBS content for required early age strength.
- Determination of the curing regime for achieving desired strength at early ages.
- Development of proprietary concretes for aggressive chemical/biological environments, and performance testing.
- Alkali Activated Binders (Geopolymers) for the base layer of paving blocks.
- Evidencing the performance of new concretes & Service Life Estimation.
- Carbon footprint and performance guidelines targeting different customer sectors.
- Completion of a relevant research project or student placement. Applicants should indicate how their experience could be applied to this post.
- Relevant work experience.
- Understanding of concrete technology.*
