The company are looking to recruit a full-time Accounts Assistant to join the Finance Team of five; they will support the Finance Manager and Finance Director with the day-to-day duties of the Finance Team and support and maintain a culture of regular review and continuous improvement.

A primary responsibility of the Accounts Assistant is to maintain the company's accounts (Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, Cash Books etc.) and any other ad-hoc spreadsheets or tasks as required. They will assist the Finance team in the production of the monthly Management Accounts, the reconciliation of the company's Balance Sheet and the completion of other ad-hoc reports and requests as required.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Reviewing and posting all Sales Ledger invoices on Sage / Trader as appropriate
- Ensuring Sales invoices have been coded correctly, in particular VAT codes
- Following the defined process to chase and secure overdue payments
- First point of contact for customer invoice queries
- First point of contact for insurance relating to customer accounts
- First point of contact for credit checks and client onboarding procedures
- Regular review of client credit facilities
- Entering daily bank transactions
- Reconciling bank accounts daily
- Second approver for outgoing bank transactions
- Processing of daily / weekly booking routines (such as Credit Cards)
- Contributing to the month end process
- Provide cover for other accounting functions as the need arises
- Report any weaknesses in controls or policy breaches or failures to the Finance Director (or alternate) as appropriate.
- Any other ad-hoc projects as requested by the Finance Manager / Finance Director

**Required Skills and Experience**:
**Essential**
- Ability to work on your own initiative, prioritise work and handle pressure to ensure that deadlines are met
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and over the phone to internal and external Stakeholders at all levels
- Prior experience of working in a similar role
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team
- Strong IT skills
- Excellent customer service

**Desirable**
- AAT part/fully qualified
- Experience of working with stock systems
- Experience of working with Sage

**Salary and Benefits**
- Salary of up £25k, dependent on experience
- 23 days holiday +1 per year served up to 28 days
