**About The Job** Salary**: £21,269 - £22,571 per annum, plus call out overtime

This salary equates to £11.02 to £11.70, plus annual leave element of £1.33 to £1.41 per hour

**Working Pattern**: Full-time or Part time (37 hours per week) - Monday to Friday but maybe required for call outs

Are you ready for a new challenge? Here at WSCC we have an exciting opportunity for Premises Officers to join our Facilities Management team and help make a difference to the lives of our residents within West Sussex. You will report to the Area Facilities Manager and be part of a team managing maintenance and compliance at County Council buildings ensuring a safe environment for staff and customers.

As a Premises Officer, you will bring practical facilities and building knowledge along with good customer service skills to our Facilities Management unit. Alongside a team of Premises Officer’s, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of a range of essential Facilities and Building Management Services. This will include undertaking a range of tasks together with the operation of associated equipment at designated County Council buildings and implementing regulations that directly impact the health and safety of the building occupiers and visitors.

You will have good communication skills with the ability to communicate within all levels of the business and appropriately manage customer expectations. You will also possess a working knowledge of maintenance and general facility matters including health and safety, fire safety, statutory compliance, and a keen eye for improvement.

**Experience and Skills**
You will need to be able to concentrate over lengthy periods in order to monitor and/or update records and contribute to the development of site procedures and manuals. The job also involves some ongoing physical effort as well as some exposure to environmental demands on the job holder (e.g. outside maintenance, making site visits during an emergency call out in any weather).

In addition, you will also be able to demonstrate the following key skills and experience:
**Key Skills**:

- Good communication and interpersonal skills in order to provide clear and concise advice and guidance to a range of clients.
- Ability to appreciate the need to maintain essential building services and security and the requirement to be flexible in their work routines to achieve this.
- Ability to respond independently, analyse problems and implement practical solutions.
- Ability to work with a range of software packages with good keyboard skills e.g. Word, Excel, databases etc. Training can be provided
- Literacy and numeracy skills in order to understand written instructions describing tasks, e.g. reading instructions to ensure alarm systems are working correctly.

**Qualifications and/or experience**:

- NVQ in a Building Services or Facilities Management related discipline or equivalent qualification or experience, demonstrating the same level of applied knowledge.
- Experience of working in a facilities/caretaking/premises environment or a strong demonstrable background in practical skills/DIY or other related area
- A full and current driving licence.
- Experience of good practical building related skills.
- Ability to coach and mentor more junior staff.

Your contribution rate is based on how much you are paid. Currently for this role it is 5.8% of your pensionable pay. If you join the 50/50 section of the Scheme, you would pay half the rate.
