As part of a nationwide Treating Tobacco Dependency (TTD) Programme, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join CPFT as a Smokefree Advisor you will work alongside the Tobacco Dependency Specialist Practitioner within our Adult Mental Health Directorate.

Your focus will be to promote our smoke free policy across our inpatient services and supporting service users to successfully stop smoking.

The NHS Long Term Plan is committed to supporting people to live healthier for longer and preventing avoidable illness by stopping smoking. Prioritizing people suffering with mental illness is intended to address the health inequalities and premature deaths experienced by this population.

This full-time/part time post holder will be required to travel across our inpatient services located in Cambridge and Peterborough. We also offer the flexibility around your working hours and the location of your office base (where appropriate home working maybe available) Part time staff will be expected to cover one part of the county.

As part of the initiative, we are looking at all our patients who are admitted to our wards:

- They will be screened for their smoking status and referred for an opt-out discussion with an appropriately trained smoking cessation advisor
- To have access to appropriate pharmacotherapy
- To support and agree a personalised plan to support them to quit smoking tobacco

The Smokefree Advisor role will support and contribute to tackling health inequalities through promoting and supporting Smokefree and to support staff and service users to adopt healthy lifestyles through providing tobacco dependence treatment in line NICE Guidance and the NHS Long Term Plan.

The post holder will be responsible for establishing and maintaining communication with patients who smoke, in which strong interpersonal skills are essential.

A commitment to working collaboratively with inpatient staff, patients, and carers, to help reduce health inequalities across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough is essential.

The post holder will be delivering evidence-based interventions that focus on behaviour change, and licenced treatment aids of which training can be offered to enable delivery.

These services include Children, Adult & Older Peoples mental & physical health, Forensic & Specialist mental health, Learning Disabilities, Primary Care & Liaison psychiatry, Substance misuse, Social care, Research & Development.

1. Knowledge of evidenced
- based smoking cessation interventions
2. Have good written and verbal skills
3. Passionate about putting service users first and delivering high-quality services
4. Knowledge of the risks of smoking in Mental health
5. Awareness of national initiatives and guidance
6. Understanding of determinants of health model and the health needs of people living in disadvantaged areas.
7. Organising and planning events as necessary supporting information material
8. Maintain communication and records within the organization including the preparation of notes, booking appointments, and recording all activities.
9. Inputting, monitoring, and reporting data in relation to smoking and follow on from the ward to the community.
