**Head of Finance - Commercial and Customer**

Circa £130,000 plus excellent benefits including up to 10% employer pension contribution, private healthcare for you and your family, and a company car or £8,000 car allowance (Work Level 3)

We’re looking for a Head of Commercial Finance to join us at Co-op and partner with our commercial and customer teams to provide a critical level of financial support. Food is one of our biggest areas at Co-op, with hundreds of decisions made every day that impact the future of our business. We’ll look to you to plan, analyse, control and measure activities in this area to enable our senior Food leaders to make these decisions that improve the day-to-day running of the business, as well as any future planning and transformation programmes.

**What you’ll do**
- Build influential and effective business partnering relationships, working closely with leaders across the commercial and customer teams to drive performance, help shape projects and bring structure to new ideas
- Partner with business leaders to support the delivery of large-scale savings and investment plans, preserving and creating value for Co-op through better buying, sourcing, promotional effectiveness, and marketing strategies
- Work closely with the Commercial Director, Proposition Director and Chief Membership Officer to provide financial input / advice in delivering sales, margins, and marketing strategies to optimise the Co-op’s commercial performance
- Line manage, mentor, and inspire the commercial finance team, made up of circa 20 colleagues
- Lead the team in providing insightful financial analysis that supports decision making such as: category trading, cost/inflation management, pricing and promotional activities, trade planning, marketing, membership, range and space activities etc.
- Drive a performance culture, making sure that the business understand performance and are able to make effective interventions to deliver against commercial budgets and forecasts in line with our business strategy and plans
- Indirectly look after the turnover, marketing spend, and central margin and income budgeted for Food

**This role would suit people who have**
- A solid understanding of retail business economics and the market, ideally food retail
- A strong retail background in a senior financial role
- Previous commercial business partnering experience
- Experience building relationships with senior leaders, up to executive level
- Confidence to present findings to senior colleagues, challenging and influencing decisions
- Previous experience leading and mentoring a large team of finance colleagues
- The ability to analyse information in granular detail but also look at the bigger picture
