**Carers Needed to Join Team for Young Adult with Complex Disabilities**

Permanent post to expand our team of carers working delivering 24 hour a day care. This is for a 22-year-old man with complex needs, who lives in purpose-built accommodation adjacent to his family. For daytime care, he is supported by 2 adults. He has 1 carer overnight.

This job would suit someone wanting to boost their earnings from a weekday job or a student. We have previously had a psychology student and currently have a nursing student covering a similar shift pattern, but you would need to be in the area outside of university term time.

**Hours**

24 hours per week (1 day and 1 consecutive night shift) at a weekend.

This could be a Friday night and Saturday day, or a Sunday day and night.

Day shifts are 8am-8pm

Night shifts 8pm-8am

You are able to study and sleep during night shifts at times when you are not required, and new modern accommodation is provided for this.

**Role**

Full support with all personal care including hoisting for transfers, taking to activities and going on long walks outdoors pushing a wheelchair every day.

**Requirements**:
You need to be enthusiastic, physically fit, patient, caring, able to work as part of a small team and intending for this to be a long-term post.

Previous experience of working with people with disabilities is desirable (but not essential), particularly knowledge of visual impairment, epilepsy or autism. The right attitude and the ability to fit into our current established team is more important.

You will be expected to comply with health and safety requirements to protect the young man you are caring for and the rest of the team which will include having Covid and flu vaccinations in line with national recommendations.

A full driving licence with no claims or convictions in the last 3 years would be an advantage, but not essential.

A reference from your current or most recent employer will be required if you are offered the post.

**Support**

You will need to complete some mandatory training, and there will be further optional training on topics such as visual impairment offered.
