At Reading Borough Council we’re committed to providing a high quality effective and efficient waste collection service. We carry out a full range of domestic, recycling, and commercial waste collection services to a high standard, always with an eye to reducing landfill and maximising recycling.

**About the role**

The main purpose of the Waste Operative role is to undertake and assist with Housing, Bulky Waste, Bin delivery, and collection operations within section requirements.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

- Collection of daily housing and bulky waste items.
- Bin deliveries are completed effectively and on schedule.
- Daily sign off of all schedules and additional works.
- Providing accurate pricing quotes to customers for requested works.
- Help identify and record details of abusers of housing, bulky waste and bin delivery services including; fly-tipping, additional quantities, and dangerous items.
- Working efficiently in a team delivering consistently high standards
- Excellent customer care skills
- Follow Health & Safety procedures and codes of practice

**About you**

This is an outdoor job, which requires effective team working, so it’s important that you work well with others and are flexible in your approach to work.
- You will be working in all weathers and must have a can do and flexible attitude.
- Possession of a current driving license for 2 years will be beneficial.
