JBT currently has a great opportunity for a Manual Machinist to join the Proseal team just south of Manchester.
Proseal UK Ltd is a company that designs and manufactures high quality tray sealing and conveying systems for the food industry and has manufacturing facilities in the UK, North America, and Australia. Having been established for 25 years, demand for the Proseal product is growing and we are responsible for developing many plastic-based alternatives for preserving the life of and carrying food safely. Formed in 1998, Proseal has not only become the leading manufacturer of tray sealing machinery and tooling in the UK but is now also recognised as a major force internationally with manufacturing facilities in the United States and Australia along with offices in Ireland, Holland, Spain, Canada, South America, and Dubai.
**Your Initial Role Within The Manual Machinist Department**:
Your initial role within Manufacturing will be primarily a ‘Manual Machinist’.
This role is not limited or restricted to, as the business is proactively seeking to enhance and further employee’s skills and knowledge via personal development plans. All relevant training will be provided where required, as such skills within the following departments could be attained over a period of time:
- CNC Milling Dept
- Setting & Operating
- Proform Dept - Welding, Hot-rod forming and Blade forming
- CNC Turning Dept - Programming, Setting and Operating
- CNC Programming Dept - CAD/CAM Offline Programming
- Finishing Dept - Manual machining using Pedestal Drills and Automatic Machine Tappers

As such from time to time the business will require support in other areas to facilitate the ability to meet customer needs. As such you will be encouraged to help support by temporarily moving department, altering daily duties or fulfilling overtime.
**The Opportunity...**:General Key Tasks and Accountabilities**:
- To adhere to all company Health and Safety policies and procedures
- To complete allocated work to the company approved quality standard
- To complete allocated work to the company approved standard times
- To complete allocated work to the company schedule
- To adhere to all departmental agreed procedures and tasks
**Department Specific Key Tasks and Accountabilities**:
- Ensure all PPE is worn and used as instructed by the ‘Risk Assessments’ and ‘Standard Operating Procedures’ provided by the company
- Ensure the working area and equipment to be used is clean, safe, and in good condition
- Ensure all daily safety and maintenance checks have been completed
- Lease with leadership on production efficiencies to achieve on time delivery
- Ensure geometric and visual quality standards are maintained
- Remove all sharp edges
- Mark the part with any identification required for traceability
- Any reasonable requests as they arise
**Abilities if Required**:
- To be able to stand for long periods of time
- To be able to work with a variety of materials such as but not limited to, Stainless Steels, Aluminium’s, Acetals
- To be able to pick materials or parts from the ground
- To be able to lean, reach and stretch
- To be able to work with cutting fluids such as but not restricted to, coolant, grease, oil
- To be able to work with hand tools that vibrate
**Aptitudes Required**:
- To always work in a safe and controlled manner
- To see and highlight quality deviations
- To see and highlight opportunities for improvement
- To help fellow employees as and when required
- To maintain a clean and organised working environment
**Qualifications / Experience / Skills Desired**:
- Previous experience working in a health and safety conscious business
- Previous experience**:
- Previous experience using Microsoft Office
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing business
- Previous experience reading and understanding engineering drawings
- Previous experience using engineering measuring equipment
- An understanding of ‘Continuous Improvement’
