The Rheumatology team at Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has an opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible individual looking for a challenge in a post that is both interesting and varied.

The post will be based within Bolton One. You should have the ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including covering for colleagues during absence and annual leave.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is already working in a clerical role who has a good working knowledge of outpatient booking and the ability to support and direct a team. The role will include overseeing customer service, staff supervision, staff training, problem solving, outpatient /contacts booking and meeting deadlines within a hands on environment.

You will be expected to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the desire to work in a patient focussed environment. You will also need to have good IT and organisational skills, with the ability to deal sensitively and confidently with people, both face to face and over the telephone, as well as work effectively as part of the team. The ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines is essential.

You will also need to be able to work using your own initiative and without direct supervision.

Assist the Rheumatology management and clinical teams to ensure that the systems in place support performance that adheres to the current nationally and locally agreed guidelines.

Ensure that all systems/processes are fit for purpose and report any issues to the Operational Support Manager/Service Manager.

Assists and supports staff with complex/difficult situations as they arise.

Ensure all areas work to the agreed standards in terms of customer service and data recording.

The post holder will understand the entire patient administration process to enable them to support the clerical officers to complete their roles

Rheumatology are a multidisciplinary service, running out patient clinics at Bolton One. The administrative team play an integral role within the service, providing communication networks between the team and liaising with patients who can be distressed by their pain.
