**Main purpose of the job**:
Under general supervision of the Purchasing Manager, this role provides support for the maintenance of commercial records, files and systems relating to the Purchasing function including the RFQ’s (Request for quotations) and DCN’s ( Drawing Change Notes ). Also responsible for the management of an agreed number of suppliers.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Ensure RFQ’s are actioned on time with prices determined by negotiation and using a minimum of 2 supplier quotations (where/when applicable)
- Raise Purchase Orders specific suppliers and for non-stock items
- Check Order Acknowledges match requirements within Purchase Orders, accepting or rejecting any variances
- Expedite Purchase Orders and keep stakeholders aware of any late deliveries
- Maintain Sage supplier price lists and preferred supplier files and where applicable to amend purchase orders to agreed price levels
- Action all DCN requests with the corresponding suppliers and to update internal records
- Maintain and/or implement supplier agreements under supervision of the Purchasing Manager
- Deliver cost savings as agreed with Purchasing Manager
- Operate within the framework of standard operating procedures and all corresponding procedures as defined within the Quality Management System
- Assist Accounts in resolving invoice queries
- The above list is not an exhaustive list of duties and the postholder will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by their changing role and overall business objectives in the organisaiton.

**Skills / Competence / Experience**

**Essential**
- Competent in the use of Microsoft office
- Effective Communicator at all levels
- Competent in the use of a mainframe operating system
- Exposure to dealing with suppliers and agreeing prices and terms
- Strong negotiation skills
- High level of numerical and analytical experience

**Preferable**
- Supply Chain / Buying experience
- Excellent supply chain systems knowledge
- Ideally have worked within a manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of forecasting / planning models
- Ability to interpret and understand current market conditions
- CIPS qualification or equivalent qualification, or working towards

**WORKING HOURS AND OTHER**:

- 40 Per week over 4.5 days:

- Mon - Thu: 07:30 - 16:45
- Fri: 07:30 - 12:30
- 5 weeks annual holiday + bank holidays
