**Main Purpose of Role**:
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join this successful and highly motivated department at Pinehirst. As Animal Welfare Technician you will be responsible for ensuring the high standards within our animal centre are met, follow standard operating procedures to carry out routine and non-routine husbandry of animals, and ensure the curriculum needs of the animal care department are met within the animal centre.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Carry out all elements of horses including cleaning, feeding and preparation of diets.

To ensure the routines and general health of our animals are maintained to a high standard.

To check the health and wellbeing of our animals and promptly report and record any changes observed.

Maintain and create new enclosures and enriching environments for our different species.

To adhere to all our health and safety policies and procedures.

This is a hands on, practical role, working with a diverse range of animals

Working 5 out of 7 days per week on a rota basis including weekends and Bank Holidays. Hours are approximately 36 hours per week 9am to 5.00pm.

Feeding, cleaning out and bedding down the resident animals. To ensure a clean, hygienic and healthy environment is maintained for all areas of the facility and equipment.

To continuously develop and improve themselves and the way they work.

To comply with Company policy and best practise in security, legal and regulatory compliance.

To complete any other duties as required from time to time

To ensure animal welfare standards / health and safety regulations are adhered to.

At least 3 years hands on keeper experience within the animal areas.

Some supervisory experience or experience of leading a team.

A relevant degree or qualification would be a benefit but not essential

Strong leadership skills and the ability to build strong working relationships across teams
