**Student Services Assistant**

API is seeking **Student Services Assistant** to work alongside our London team in managing our student study abroad programmes in **London**. This is a **temporary contractor role paid by the hour/number of days worked. Hours and dates of work will vary, however schedules will be issued in advance. The busiest time will be from May - July 2024. The position is based out of our office in central London however most of the Student Services Assistant's time will be spent out and about with the students.**

The role primarily involves leading and travelling with customised groups around London and parts of England for a number of nights to places of cultural interest. The Student Services Assistant will be required to stay with the group on overnights. For our core programmes, cultural events take place primarily in and around London. For day trips and overnight trips you may be required to accompany the students to destinations such as Edinburgh, London, Liverpool and YorkIt is essential that students do not miss classes to attend these activities so the majority of work will be on **weekends or evenings**.

Reporting to the Resident Director, the student services assistant will help **lead API’s cultural events and student orientation **in London. This will include, but is not limited to, physically leading the events; delivery of on site orientations; leading multi-day tours with university professors and students around the country; **dealing with emergencies **when with the groups.

The Student Services Assistant will also be responsible for **supporting students throughout their time in London**, and managing student, parent, university and employer expectations while working to ensure high levels of customer service are maintained (e.g., by helping students navigate academic challenges, and connecting them with support resources). They will also share 24-hour emergency duties with other in-country API team members. This job description is considered a guide to the position and should not be considered exhaustive.

**Requirements**:

- Live in London
- A genuine interest and knowledge of British history and culture
- Sensitivity to student needs and cultural differences
- Excellent written and spoken communication, time management and organisational skills
- Ability to multi-task and work to strict deadlines
- Ability to work independently and on own initiative and collaboratively as part of an international team
- A positive, can-do attitude
- Flexibility and willingness to assist across other areas and programmes when required
- Working knowledge of Google workspace, Google sheets and Microsoft packages

**Preferable**
- Experience in the tourism sector particularly leading tours
- Event planning and event management experience
- Experience in similar role
- Experience working to strict deadlines
- Experience of living or working abroad
- Professional or academic experience within the education sector
- Experience with safeguarding procedures
