**Open Ended Contract - Permanent; Full Time - 35 hours per week.**

**Edinburgh College of Art is looking for a full time Lecturer in Illustration to join the team on an open-ended basis.**

**The Opportunity**

The successful postholder will undertake Teaching and Research in Illustration.

Building on a pre-existing track record of an Illustration practice and research of a high international standard, you will continue to produce high quality research and knowledge exchange activities of national/international impact in the field of illustration practice and research.

You will also be expected to support the School’s ongoing vision to embed sustainable and environmentally consider design practices and solutions at the core of future Programme and curriculum development, teaching and student outputs.

You will be expected to contribute to leadership, management, citizenship and administrative duties across teaching and research activities, commensurate with the role. In particular, the post-holder will participate actively in the succession of Programme Director roles and will be prepared to adopt the position of Programme Director (PD) of the MA Illustration when the current PD demits this position.

**Your skills and attributes for success**
- You will have an in-depth knowledge of a variety of approaches to creative and contemporary illustration and a depth of knowledge in at least one specialism; such as graphic novels, editorial, reportage, children’s books, advertising, concept art, infographics or gallery-based practice.
- You will be able to evidence both a pre-existing track record of research (pertaining either to practical outputs, written outputs or both) and Illustration work of national, and ideally international, visibility and standard.
- You will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of teaching Illustration and managing courses and assessments within a Higher Education context.
- You will be able to demonstrate experience of project management, team leadership and administration.
