**Senior Scientist summary**:
Diagnostics is an exciting and rapidly developing field of biotechnology. Diagnostic assays play a pivotal role in patient care through initial diagnosis, stratification, treatment selection and treatment response monitoring. As new assays are developed,the use of appropriate controls is key to ensure their accuracy and sensitivity to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.

The Diagnostics R&D team utilises Horizon’s unique cell line catalogue and gene editing capabilities to design and develop Reference Standard Products for Diagnostic assays. The materials we make are used by their diverse customers for assay and platformdevelopment, assay monitoring and analysis, and proficiency testing.

**Senior Scientist Duties**:
As their new Senior Scientist you will be responsible for:

- independently running multiple projects with the aim of launching innovative reference standard products that meet the needs of existing and emerging technologies whilst working under the ISO 9001 and 13485 quality standards.
- You will require outstanding technical knowledge along with the ability to quickly understand and implement new technologies.
- You will collaborate with diverse stakeholders across the company, including Product Management, Manufacturing, Marketing and Finance, to ensure the products you develop are impactful.
- Drive product development projects that fit within the Diagnostics strategic road map, particularly focused on liquid biopsy and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies.
- Design and execute experiments, perform data analysis, and record results in accordance with the Product Design and Development process and the ISO 9001 and 13485 standards.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve issues with existing product lines as required.
- Actively contribute ideas for new products, by keeping up to date with the developing Diagnostics market
- Be a source of technical expertise for marketing materials, customer queries, whitepapers etc.
- Create documentation and processes for product manufacturing.

**Senior Scientist Requirements**:

- You will be educated to _PhD_ level (or equivalent experience) in Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Molecular Biology
- You will have experience of the diagnostic industry and/or commercial product development
- Excellent understanding of NGS and/or liquid biopsy technologies.
- You will have an understanding of ISO 9001 and 13485 standards, ideally with experience working to these regulations.
