**Job Title**:Driver

**Reports to**:Transport Manager

**Job Objective (Purpose)**:
The **delivery driver** is required to load, transport and deliver products between different locations within tight time frames. This is achieved by:

- Working at a fast yet efficient pace
- Loading and unloading products
- Transport them to intended destinations
- Interacting with customers
- Ensuring the vehicle is clean

**4. Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities (Job Duties and Tasks)**

**Loading vehicle**
- Collect products from a depot, warehouse or pick-up point
- Load the vehicle in an order that matches the deliveries that you will make
- Load the vehicle in a manner that does not damage the products
- Plan the route to make sure that deliveries are made on time
- Ensure the vehicle is at an acceptable temperature to maintain required Food and Safety recommendations
- Lifting of heavy goods may be required

**Transporting Products**
- Drive for long hours, possibly on motorways, in all weather and traffic conditions
- Weekend work is expected, as are early morning starts. Night shifts may also be a requirement of the job
- Delivery schedules are very time controlled and deliveries need to be made within customer / company time frame
- Driving must be within the speed limit and in a manner that does not damage the products
- A good attitude towards other road users is vital

**Delivery of Products**
- Unload the deliveries at the correct addresses
- On delivery, ensure delivery notes are signed and a copy is kept for internal company records
- Update delivery records, if needed, making a note on the delivery note of any shortages or extra products delivered
- Interact with the customer, and relay any concerns, queries or information to the transport manager or administration department
- Return undelivered products to your base

**Care of Vehicle**
- The vehicle must be kept clean at all times
- Company vehicle maintenance procedures must be followed
- Any damage to the vehicle must be reported immediately
- Refrigeration units must be well maintained and any concerns with the cooling system immediately reported

This is an extremely fast paced position within the company and you will interact with most company departments. Work hours are irregular and will be influenced by problems needing instant action. You will be working in a temperature controlled environment.

**5. Personal Specification**
- This job requires the following personal skills and qualifications:

- A full, clean, valid driving license
- Excellent driving skills and road safety awareness
- Good communications as you will be meeting customers on a daily basis
- Reading skills for following job and safety instructions
- An ability to stay calm under pressure and be patient is also paramount, as you may have make late deliveries due to traffic jams and road accidents
- Maths skills for measuring out cleaning fluids
- Physical fitness
- Trustworthiness and reliability
- You will need to be reliable, trustworthy and motivated
- Good time management skills as you are working on your own and your employer is relying on you to deliver goods on time

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £10.83-£11.50 per hour
