Workington, United Kingdom NDA group graduate Full time

**Say hello to the NDA group graduate programme**

We're the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) group, delivering one of the world's most important environmental programmes to decommission the UK's earliest nuclear facilities.

Our group is responsible for 17 nuclear sites in all parts of the UK, together with specialist nuclear waste and international transport businesses. And our work is growing, with more facilities joining us to be decommissioned in the next decade.

Sustainability, safety, and security are at the heart of our long-term mission to prepare our sites for their next use, work which spans into the next century.

As an NDA group graduate, you'll get the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution towards the delivery of our nationally important mission. During our two-year graduate programme, you'll take part in three placements in different parts of the NDA group. You'll start with a 12-month placement, before completing two six-month opportunities. In exchange for your contribution, you'll be supported at the end of the programme to secure a role in the NDA group.

We have a number of Radiological Protection graduate opportunities within Nuclear Restoration Services, part of NDA group, based at an NRS site or office, with locations around the UK.

**Overview**

Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS), one of the NDA group's operating companies, is decommissioning a fleet of first-generation nuclear sites within the UK. It also operates a 29 MW(e) hydro-electric plant in North Wales. Within the next few years NRS will also begin to decommission the UK's second generation of commercial reactors, Advanced Gas Reactors (AGRs), currently owned and operated by EDF Energy.

We require graduates to join our Radiological Protection Graduate Training Scheme. The principle aim of the scheme is to guide the graduate through the process of appointment as an Accredited Health Physicist over a two-year period. This will be achieved by completion of taught technical and on-job training. The graduate shall complete either the AURPO (Association of University Radiation Protection Officers) certificate or the UKHSA (UK Health Security Agency) Radiological Protection Training Scheme courses. These courses are industry recognised as the core technical knowledge requirement for achieving a certificate of competence as an RPA (Radiation Protection Adviser).

The NRS challenge requires enthusiastic recruits to join our exciting mission

**The opportunity**

This programme offers graduates the opportunity to gain experience in Radiological Protection. You will get the opportunity to:

- Train as an Accredited Health Physicist and be supported in the production of a portfolio for attaining a certificate of competence as an RPA.
- Be supported in gaining membership of the SRP (Society for Radiological Protection) and attend their annual conference at least once over the two-year scheme.
- Complete two 'mini-projects' as part of the scheme, gaining experience of managing delivery of a project, in addition to controlled stakeholder engagement and establishing relationships within NRS.
- At the end of the scheme, be in a position with sufficient knowledge and experience to be put forward for an Accreditation interview.

Be part of an exciting and expanding nuclear decommissioning industry and forward-looking organisation. Engineering delivery is at the heart of our future strategy, so it's crucial that we get it right. We must continue to strengthen and grow the capability of our business to ensure we deliver against our mission to safely, securely and cost-effectively clean up some of the UK's oldest nuclear sites and shortly begin to decommission the UK second generation stations_._

Throughout your two-year journey on the NDA group graduate programme you will be employed by Energus whilst being supported by an industry leading sponsoring organisation.
