Welcoming over 10,000 visitors a year, Lady Waterford Hall is a small museum located in Ford village and is part of a wider tourist attraction on Ford & Etal Estates. The Hall tells the story of Louisa, Lady Waterford, a 19th-century Pre-Raphaelite artist and philanthropist, who created the model village of Ford for her tenants and workers whilst living at Ford Castle. The Hall was originally built as a school for local children in 1860. Louisa then embarked on her ‘great experiment’ - painting the watercolour murals that still adorn the walls today.

**Job Description**:
As a guide, you will act as front of house, providing a friendly welcome and always being on hand to answer visitor queries. You will be able to bring Louisa’s story to life through short introduction talks for group visits. You will also be responsible for making Lady Waterford Hall and the retail area welcoming and handling both ticket and retail sales as well as being pro active in selling raffle tickets of a chosen Louisa print (this brings much needed donations as entry to Lady Waterford Hall is free).

There will be a rota in which you will work two days each week. Hours are 11am to 5pm per day except March and October/November 11am to 4pm. The rota will be confirmed in advance. Occasionally it may be necessary to work outside these hours, but this will be paid and will be by prior arrangement only.

**Responsibilities**:

- Welcome and greet visitors to the museum in a friendly and professional manner
- Learn the history of the Hall and Lady Waterford’s story and convey that knowledge to Hall visitors
- Answer visitor queries
- Deliver talks to group visits and school groups
- Open and close the Hall and ensure the site is secure
- Help when needed at Hall events
- Restock retail items and assist with stock management
- Follow the daily cleaning regime
- Operating point of sale system for admissions and retail goods

**Requirements**:

- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Comfortable with public speaking, or willingness to become so
- Ability to be take direction and work well in a team
- A genuine interest in art history
- Motivated to learn
- Proactive and willing to initiate tasks when the Hall is quiet
- Punctual
- Flexible
- Confident with the public
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings as needed

**Job Types**: Part-time, Temporary contract

**Salary**: £7.49-£10.42 per hour

Expected hours: 12 per week
