Our aim is to provide a seamless, joyful experience that delivers a little magic, one hand-iced biscuit at a time. We’ve grown enormously, particularly in the last 18 months. In 2020 alone, we hand-iced over 2.5 million biscuits and delivered them to customers all over the world.

As well as our eCommerce business, we have two biscuit boutiques, where we offer ‘School of Icing’ events, teaching our customers to ice like an expert, while they enjoy a cup of tea or coffee or even a glass of Prosecco. We also work with a wide range of corporate clients, creating bespoke and branded designs for every occasion.
In 2019, we opened the Ministry of Biscuits - a brand new purpose-built production space in Wimbledon, London. It is here where the biscuit magic happens. Now delivering to over 193,000 customers in 117 countries, our Production team will dispatch over 150,000 orders this year. We’re on the hunt for self-motivated and hardworking individuals who thrive in a creative and dynamic environment.

**Who we’re looking for**

We are now looking for a **Cake Maker, on a part-time/freelance basis** to support our small, dedicated team at our Belgravia Boutique or at our Ministry of Biscuits in our Colliers Wood, to help produce our bespoke customer cakes

The hours will be varied from 6 hours as a minimum to up to 20 hours, although will be as required on an adhoc basis to support making our bespoke cake orders. We operate the kitchen mainly between 7.00-4.00pm mainly between Monday to Friday, although this may be vary between location.

**This role requires you to have experience and knowledge as a cake maker for a minimum of 2 years, as you will be...**
- Working on your own to deliver both buttercream and sugar paste cakes in a timely fashion.
- This will involve covering cakes to a high standard and adding finishing touches to cakes that have been requested.
- It may include making some simple decorations and techniques such as modelling, flowers or piping to achieve a high standard of finished cakes.
- This role will work alongside either our Patisserie team or our Shop Icers, following bespoke cake briefs that have been created for our customers.
- Maintain strict food hygiene and safety standards-we are SALSA accredited.
- This role may provide an opportunity to use your creative flair and cake skills in suggesting ideas and designs that may work on a cake.

**You will need**
- Good knowledge and experience of cake making to a high standard.
- Skills to include;
- Finishing cakes with a smooth buttercream finish.
- Piping skills
- Writing in royal icing and buttercream piping.
- Covering cakes in Sugar paste with a suitable base.
- A good understanding of skills in doweling and stacking cakes.
- Making decorations such as modelling, sugar flowers and other decorations.
- A pastry qualification such as City &Guilds or equivalent is preferable although not essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- To be able to work quickly and methodically with good attention to detail.
- Experience of working in a professional bakery would be preferable.
- Qualifications in Health & Safety and Food Safety would be an advantage.
- A positive proactive approach.
