This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic researcher to contribute towards our programme of research around the delivery of musculoskeletal rehabilitation. As an experienced researcher you will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of research and evaluation activities at our MSK hub based in Enfield. You will have the opportunity to work alongside senior clinical academics to develop your skills and experience in patient facing clinical research.

You will be joining an established team of research therapists with a track record of leading clinical research activities. Whilst working with us, you will be supported to develop your own clinical research interests in the field of musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

The post holder will work alongside the MSK Hub team in Enfield to support the delivery of a program of research to evaluate new and innovative MSK pathways. The post holder will support the use of improvement methodology to create new ways of working to deliver outstanding care to patients.

The post holder will support the delivery of specific programs of research to gain sustainable grant funding in collaboration with others, external or internal to the organisation as appropriate. This will also allow an individual(s) to develop an area of research interest relevant to MSK rehabilitation.

The post-holder will work closely with academic partners, Improvement teams, clinical experts, research staff and students with the key aims below:
Deliver programs of research predominantly focused on evaluating and improving the quality of MSK pathways.

Publish and present data on the effectiveness of clinical pathways utilising a range of research methods

Provide expertise in combining QI and academic research methodology.

Lead on grant submissions for programs of research (this can include fellowships / studentships, Charity grants, NIHR funding streams).

Collaborate with HEIs, CTUs, NIHR, RDS as appropriate to build programs of work and funding to carry out the research.

Advise and facilitate an ongoing culture of evidence based and high quality care alongside the Advanced AHP Researcher, Deputy Director of AHP R&D and other clinical/academics within the dept and organisation.

At the RNOH, we have a proven track record of supporting clinical research. We have a substantive research team and several members of staff have successfully been awarded NIHR fellowships (Predoctoral level, PhD and postdoctoral level). You will be supervised by a postdoctoral research physiotherapist and you will be supported to develop your own clinical research skills. We have developed a programme of research that the successful post-holder will be expected to support. This will lead to opportunities to publish in peer reviewed journals and present at conferences. There will be opportunities for internal across a range of research methods to support the post-holder in their role.

You will be joining an established team at the MSK Hub based at Forest Medical Centre. This is an role and you will be joining a team who are motivated and committed to delivering excellent patient care. This role will give you the opportunity to work alongside our partners in primary and secondary care; this is truly a unique opportunity to conduct research across the MSK pathway as we collectively bring the best of primary, secondary and tertiary care together. The post-holder will be well placed to support the delivery of a truly unique program of work designed to bring innovation and excellence to musculoskeletal care.

You will work alongside the Advanced AHP researcher to support the delivery of a programme of research and improvement at the MSK Hub in Enfield. The key duties are split into four main areas:
Education - to advise the wider clinical team about appropriate methods; Participate and advise in the delivery of high-quality teaching about research methods; to maintain expert knowledge in an area of research practice.

Quality improvement - to support continuous quality improvement activities at the clinical site; to provide academic expertise in the delivery of improvement initiatives and to support the academic publication of change initiatives.

Leadership - to assist and support the Advanced AHP Researcher and deputize where appropriate; provide research mentorship to other staff, to work independently and autonomously, demonstrate excellent organisational skills and have the ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines; engage in delivery of any changes and be prepared to step into unfamiliar roles in situations of crisis and to ensure that departmental as well as Trust policies are adhered to.
