**Responsibilities**:

- To maintain an up to date record of taxpayer accounts to ensure the prompt issue of accounts and arrears documentation thus maximising cash flow.
- As a customer focused role to bee able to communicate with customers directly either by telephone, correspondence or interview to give advice on matters of liability or to ascertain information to ensure accurate records and to promote customer care.
- To work with the Mid Kent Compliance team to undertake regular surveys of exemptions and discounts granted to prevent fraud and avoid monetary loss.
- To progress enforcement by preparing and despatching documentation post Court Hearing and making attachments to earnings/.income support, making and monitoring payment arrangements and referring cases to Bailiffs to maximise the recovery of arrears.
- To attend the Magistrates Court to negotiate with defaulters and to prepare financial statements to assist the Recovery Officer in his/her prosecution and the Magistrates in their adjudication.

**Qualifications**:

- An IT related qualification
- Proven competency and speed in keyboard skills and the ability to effectively use a PC and MS Office.
- Knowledge and understanding of current Legislation relating to Council Tax
- A basic knowledge of Housing Benefit Legislation
- Knowledge of Data Protection Principles
- As this is a customer focused role the ability to converse at ease with customers adapting communication style to suit differing audiences and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential.

**Experience**:

- Experience of customer focused environment.
- Experience of working in a Revenues and Benefits team
- Experience in using Academy and Comino systems would be an advantage.

- This role requires an **enhanced DBS**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
