RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- To microscopically primary screen cervical cytology samples to assess the quality and report negative and inadequate samples, provide recommendation for recall following written and agreed protocols to NHSCSP standards.
- To primary screen, marking cells showing abnormality and refer these to senior staff after giving a primary diagnosis according to written and agreed protocols.
- To ensure an efficient referral process is maintained for abnormal samples or samples a second opinion is sought in accordance to given turnaround time targets.
- To rapid re-screen negative and inadequate samples as part of internal quality control.
- NHSCSP experience in a cervical cytology laboratory
- NHSCSP recognised Certificate of Competence to report cervical cytology
- Evidence of attendance at a Gynae update course
- Evidence of ongoing CPD

Training course certification in LBC for cervical cytology
