Oxford, United Kingdom Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Are you passionate about changing the lives of vulnerable children?

Do you enjoy working in a variety of ways, including consultation, assessment and intervention?

Are you looking for further specialist training opportunities?

We're looking to recruit a Clinical/Forensic/Counselling Psychologist or a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist, to really make a difference to the lives of children and young people across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

The role is within our established Forensic CAMHS team, working within this wide service provision which supports young people getting into trouble due to their behaviour towards others, but also takes a lead on one aspect of our service: a specific provision for sexually harmful behaviour.

The Child and Adolescent Harmful Behaviour Service (CAHBS) team works closely with other professionals to support young people who display signs of Harmful Sexual Behaviours (HSB). We offer consultation and specialist advice to other CAMHS services as well as supporting consultations to a wide professional network. The service is well-known in the counties and valued by many professionals. We are often asked to provide training to others and currently do some regular introduction courses via the Safeguarding boards training programme.

Where necessary, we can offer highly specialist psychological assessments or supervise and co work these assessments or supervise and support others to do appropriate level work.

On a typical day, you will have contact with a variety of teams about cases - both ongoing and new, which may include referrals from/giving advice to NHS and social care, schools and police.

As a lead for the service, you will co-ordinate the referrals and allocation of cases, supervise the staff and also undertake direct/indirect clinical work yourself. There is liaison around referrals in order to ensure multiagency responses and linking with safeguarding (within Trust) and the local MASH with social care.

Using your knowledge of clinical issues/models, you will ensure that colleagues are well trained and supervised in their clinical activity and be a resource for other agencies through consultation. The service is based upon a consultation model, with assessment and intervention as required, and you will be able to support these stages. Being a psychological therapist, there is particular role in the team for supporting formulation, which includes support case formulation in multi-professional settings.

Some of the role will be ensuring that the team has sufficient resources to use/share, and providing training to other professionals.

On meeting days you will chair/delegate the CAHBS team meeting and work with dedicated administration to make decisions on referrals/clinical input needed, ensure metrics are collated to measure service outcomes/performance. You will attend meetings with other services and teams, such as Child in Need and Child Protection meetings.

As a senior Psychologist in the wider forensic team, you will also be part of the team responding to other types of risky behaviour (other types of harm to others). This follows a similar service model with a slightly different client group. There will be opportunities to supervise other colleagues in their work, and link with other agencies to support their inputs to young people and their families. The role will also involve supporting the local Youth Justice Service (YOS) in the counties in this and wider forensic work.

We have links with training courses and often support trainees in placement (forensic/clinical/other professionals). We have links to other National teams and are part of networks of practice.
