Advanced Practice Sonographer

The post holder will be a very experienced Sonographer with a minimum of 3 yrs NHS service, able to work autonomously within the ultrasound department, accountable for their own professional actions. The post holder will assess and manage ultrasound requests giving advice and reports to patients and clinicians at the time of examination. There is a high level of commitment to the training of student Sonographers and proven experience in this area is essential.

The post holder will ensure provision of the highest standards of patient care, and contribute to the management of the Department. This person will be working closely within a multidisciplinary team.

Expected to work across all Bromley sites (PRUH, Orpington Hospital and Beckenham Beacon Hospital).

To provide timely, efficient and courteous provision of ultrasound services to the agreed standards in the general ultrasound department.

To take responsibility for own case load and report independently on the images at the time of the examination and to discuss results, give reassurance when appropriate to patients

To be accountable for own professional actions and work within codes of Practice and professional guidelines

To communicate complex information relating to conditions and procedures to staff, patients and carers, and ensure informed consent for examinations.
