**Purpose**

To repair our fleet of heavy goods vehicles and make routine maintenance checks to ensure that a vehicle is running as it should be. To perform restorative and preventative work on gears, brakes, engine, air conditioning, security features, fuel pump, etc.To carry out routine servicing of vehicles.

To:

- **read technical drawings**:

- **advise the Head Mechanic about technical issues**:

- **test vehicles**:

- **use diagnostic equipment**:

- **replace faulty parts.**

**Responsibilities**
- Inform the Head Mechanic if repairs are needed and whether they're urgent
- Work out the estimated time and cost for jobs
- Check stock levels and order parts
- Carry out standard servicing, repairs and maintenance
- Road testing vehicles to check repairs
- Fit and service accessories like alarms, cameras and tracking devices
- Keep records
- To comply with company health and safety rules
- To participate with the quality and environmental practices in the workplace

**Person Specification**

**Minimum Required**
- Class 1 Licence
- Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualification
- Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Technology or equivalent qualification
- Previous experience of working with Scania vehicles would be advantageous
- Having a suitable fitness level
- Being able to follow instruction
- Having good communication skills
- Having excellent knowledge about motor technology
- Being methodical and organised
- Having good concentration
- Being able to work to strict deadlines
- Having strong interest in motor vehicles
