This is an opportunity to work within the Highway’s development team and progress to be a fully qualified Highways Engineer.

**SALARY**: £22,369 - £34,723 per annum + Benefits

**LOCATION**: Oakham, Rutland, East Midlands

**JOB TYPE**: Full-Time, Permanent

**WORKING HOURS**: 37 hours per week - flexible and agile working (some evenings and weekend working may be required)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Trainee Highways Engineer / Assistant Roadway Construction Technician with good administrative and time management skills and a keen interest in construction and road planning.

Working as a Trainee Highways Engineer / Assistant Roadway Construction Technician you will work as part of a small Highways team and will get involved in a broader range of issues which affect the lives of the residents in the local community.

This is a great chance to become part of a supporting team committed to delivering great services through the county whilst developing your own skills and experience in all aspects of Highways development control.

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as Trainee Highways Engineer / Assistant Roadway Construction Technician will include:
Assist with the preparation of Section 38/278 Agreements and vetting of designs To supervise and monitor construction works undertaken in accordance with these Agreements

Assist with the development, design and implementation of small works and safety improvement schemes undertaken on behalf of developers, or to further the organisation’s own works capital programme

Assist in the provision of administrative and technical support to the team and to assist in the provision of a service to the public

Ensure that the team’s online system is kept up to date and to undertake any scanning, printing or other document preparation and related tasks as may be necessary to achieve this

Undertake processing of correspondence, reports and other documents to corporate standards and deadlines

Set up spreadsheets or databases, as may be necessary

Assist with the preparation and maintenance of statistical information, including performance indicators, as may be required

Assist in the provision of the out of hours call out and emergency rotas for winter maintenance service and highways call out

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

GCSE Math and English (A to C) or equivalent

Ability to work well with others

Excellent literacy and verbal communication

Ability to manage own workload with limited supervision

Willing to learn new things and develop new skills

Undertake evening and weekend meetings as required

Mobile and able to work from various locations
