OpenSpace(Cumbria) Limited is an Ecological Contracting business based just outside of Carlisle in the North of England. We are currently looking to employ a 360 excavator/plant operator to work within the Conservation/Habitat team undertaking practical habitat, conservation and landscape projects across North England and Scotland.
- **Main Duties & Responsibilities**:_

Undertake practical excavator and machine work with the contracting team to deliver each project. Main excavator operation will be on 9 tonne machines with some opportunity to work on 10 tonne plus (not essential). Operation includes digging, grading, trenching and general groundwork.

Use of the excavator with different implements and attachment to perform a wide range of tasks. These include mulcher heads, timber grabs, tilt rotating buckets, peckers, tree shears, pile drivers, post drivers and similar.

Occasional other work, using dumpers, ATV driving, tractor driving, habitat restoration, landscaping, access work and general habitat work. Training will be provided for these if required.

Reporting back to the Project Manager.

Maintain high standards of delivery and ensure sustainability targets are met.

Work with the contracting team on conservation projects across North England and Scotland. This includes (but not restricted to) peatland restoration, woodland work, grassland restoration, river management, mitigation work, access work (paths & tracks), landscaping and community wildlife projects.

Work part of the time from our site base and on-site location to deliver work programme. There may be one winter project that requires the applicant to work away from home. This would be for a maximum of three weeks, week days only.

Ensure machinery, personal H&S and equipment maintenance records are updated as per work programme.

Maintain and develop professional knowledge, practical skills and reporting methods.
