Bank Housing Support Worker

Adferiad Recovery is seeking bank employees to join our team in the Llanelli, Carmarthenshire area.
**About the project**:
Llanelli Support Accommodation project staff support individuals with a serious mental illness. The service is delivered either in a shared accommodation, supported housing setting in Llanelli or in people’s own homes in the locality. The aim of the staff team therefore, will be to encourage and enable clients to reach a greater level of independence and be able to move-on into more independent living in the community.
The housing service is staffed 7 days a week and staff work to a shift pattern which includes unsocial hours and sleep-ins.
**Support Worker Job Role**:
Under the direction of the Housing Service Manager & Senior, work as part of the team and lone work to support and improve the lives of people with serious mental illness.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
All Adferiad Workers will be given the qualifications, experience and competencies commensurate with the levels of care they are expected to provide and in accordance with the Care Inspectorate legislation for Domiciliary Care.
- Provide a variety of person centred, tailored interventions that support individuals with complex needs to find and sustain accommodation and develop their independent living skills.
- Supporting and assisting occupants with the following:
- Increasing independent living skills.
- Personal finance, budgeting, and accessing benefits.
- Building and maintaining relationships with neighbours, families, friends, professionals.
- Pursuing training/educational/employment/leisure & recreational goals and aspirations.
- Signposting, joint work and referral on to other specialist agencies, intervening in crisis situations.
- Recognition of and coping strategies in respect of risk, triggers and avoiding relapse.
- Work with service users to achieve their outcomes and the outcomes of the project, employing creative and innovative methods to meet these outcomes and, through their experience and resources, bring added value.
- Support the Service Manager & Senior to ensure that individual needs assessments, risk assessments, support plans are all up to date and to offer practical advice and advocacy to service users.
- Liaise with relevant services, organisations and agencies with regards to accessing additional support for service users.
- Practice homeless prevention, tenancy sustainment, Psychologically Informed Approaches, Solution Focus Practice, harm reduction, and co-production.
- To provide a service to individuals, that complements and enhances the service provision of community services, local housing providers and other agencies in the context of the supporting people initiative.
- Working with service users in a timely and task specific manner on a variety of issues in order to impact positively on issues relating to housing, employment, training and education and social isolation.
- Support service users to exercise informed choices about their lives where possible and to enhance their social skills and participate in their community.
- Help service users to identify the areas of support needed and identify the best option of support based on ongoing needs as outlined in their individual Support Plans.
- Supporting the Service Manager / Senior in following procedures for conducting 3 monthly and annual reviews - or as and when required due to changes in individuals’ needs or circumstances, ensuring risk assessments and support delivery plans are kept up to date and are relevant.
- Ensure external and internal communication is clear, timely and of high quality.
- Data collection and appropriate recording and presentation for monitoring and Quality Assurance reports as directed by the Service Manager.
- Follow GDPR procedures for general record keeping and information collection, saving and archiving - adhering to confidentiality.
- Create productive working relationships with Adferiad and partners as well as external agencies by developing the trust and support of colleagues and minimising conflict.
- Actively seeking opportunities to promote the services offered by the organisation within the local community.
- To have commitment to and demonstrate an undertaking of equality of opportunity and its relevance to different sectors within the community.
- Must demonstrate empathy towards Adferiad’s beneficiaries.
- To carry out all other tasks commensurate with the role.
**Qualifications**:
All staff are expected to register with Social Care Wales.
Commitment to personal career development relevant to the post.
NVQ or QCF Competencies in Health & Social Care Level 2 would provide some evidence of competence for the post and all staff would be required to hold or complete this as part of their employment.
**Essential Criteria**:You must have a valid and full UK driver's licence, with access to a vehicle for work purposes to be considered for this role.
