**JOB TITLE**: School Cleaner

**STATUS**: Full time

**ACCOUNTABLE TO**: Deputy Head of Education

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
1. To clean bathrooms, bedrooms and lounges in the home and associated areas as per outlined standards.

**2. To dispose of refuse safely**: Emptying and cleaning of bins

3. To be responsible for a set of keys and for ensuring the security and integrity of areas of cleaning.

4. To report maintenance issues as per company procedures.

5. To report any hazards, defects and any relevant factors of building or environment safety that may be detrimental to safe working practices and normal school operations, immediately to the line manager

6. To clean domestic kitchens including surfaces, large and small equipment, including microwave and other ovens, fridges and freezers; to dispose of refuse.

7. To dust, damp wipe, wash and/or polish the walls, furniture, window ledges, window sills and external surfaces of cupboards, radiators, shelves and fitments, to a height no greater than body height plus an arm’s extension from floor level

8. To store linen, help handle outgoing soiled linen and incoming clean linen.

9. To maintain environment; deep clean carpeted and non-carpeted areas, soft furnishings and bedding; fixtures and fittings; windows and walls; maintain storage

**10. To operate machinery and equipment safely as required**: Use of electronically powered scrubbing / polishing / vacuuming machines to scrub, polish, spray and clean floors (after receiving proper instruction and training)

11. To brush and mop hard floor surfaces

12. To vacuum clean both hard and soft floors

13. To spot clean any and all spillages

14. To wipe down furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors and polish door glass

15. To clean toilets (including sanitary fittings) urinals, hand basins, sinks and their surrounding areas.

16. To replenish consumable janitorial supplies in toilets, kitchens etc. (soap, toilet rolls, paper towels, washing liquid) when required

17. To ensure any and all windows are closed and lights switched off at the end of shift

18. To comply with COSHH regulations

19. To work within the relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

20. To check equipment / machinery used and ensure health and safety guidelines are adhered to

21. To participate in the Annual Performance Development Review Process.

22. To use chemical agents safely, appropriately and as per instruction

23. To monitor cleaning stock levels and inform the line manager of low stock levels.

24. To carry out routine administrative tasks required necessary for the role

25. To maintain tidy and organised work spaces and storage areas

26. To provide support to staff as requested and in accordance with own training / skill parameters

NB The above list is not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake additional duties, as determined by the Line Manager.
