Sackers provide full waste solutions for Suffolk and has two sites situated near Ipswich at Great Blakenham and Needham Market. One site is for scrap metal processing and the other is for commercial waste disposal. We offer commercial waste collections, skip hire and scrap metal recycling.
We have invested heavily in equipment to give us cutting edge technology to create a strong and competitive position in the area. We have the only processing plant of its type in East Anglia, we are unique to the area and able to recover, process and sell the metal and recycled commodities to many different countries.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
Portraying a positive image of the company in a professional manner at all times
Maintenance and repair on all plant and equipment
To carry out reactive maintenance and repairs in a timely, and safe manner
To carry out planned maintenance in a timely and safe manner
Install heavy engineering plant using lifting equipment in compliance with company policies
When requested by the line manager, use own initiative, knowledge and experience when designing, quantifying, manufacturing and installation of mechanical services engineering plant and equipment in accordance with current guidance and legislation.
Work to provide efficient running of mechanical services, engineering plant and equipment
Achieve acceptable standards of workmanship and productivity.
To report to the line manager any faults or maintenance required on plant and equipment.
To liaise and work with other trades/ disciplines, including external agencies, (Contactors)
To follow al safety rules and regulations while carrying duties.
To participate fully in the maintenance records scheme, filling in Job sheets and other record documents.
Participate in the department’s and Permit to Work Systems.
Report on levels of non-stock items in sub stores to relevant manager.
**HEALTH AND SAFETY**
Safe isolation of mechanical and electrical services, in accordance with company policies
Carry out all work in accordance with the department’s generic Risk Assessments and non-generic Risk Assessments as and when required.
Use all relevant tools, machinery and equipment to comply with current Health & Safety Legislation. Fully understand all relevant general Health & Safety issues appertaining to the relevant trade discipline.
To work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.
To correctly and safely use vehicles provided in accordance with company policy
**TRAINING**
Train and instruct other trades including apprentices and new starters as and when required.
To undertake relevant training as and when required
To attend training establishments as necessary.
Provide training, technical advice and support to employees.
**ANY OTHER DUTIES**
Conversing at all levels of the company in order to expedite all daily issues and action points and keep the maintenance manager informed of any relevant information
Be available to under-take overtime at a reasonable request by the company
Any other reasonable requests association in order to meet the needs of the finance team and the business as a whole
**EXPERIENCE**
**Essential**:
Recognised mechanical qualifications
Experience of working with heavy plant and equipment
Experience of working with hydraulic systems
Able to work safely and efficiently under pressure.
Ability to work using own initiative with mínimal supervision
Full UK driving licence
**Desirable**:
Time served apprenticeship
C & G - ONC Mechanical Engineering
Experience working with recycling plant and equipment
