Community Midwifery Support Worker
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a maternity support worker to join our community team within the maternity department at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. The post is for 30 hours per week over 4 shifts Mon-Fri. We are looking for a Maternity support worker who will be based predominantly within the Bexhill community midwifery team but with the opportunity to support the whole of the community maternity service. We are looking for staff who are committed to a high standard of care. You must possess good communication skills, be able to work on your own as well as part of the multi-disciplinary team and be committed to providing an excellent service.
You would be working closely with the community midwives across the maternity community service caring and supporting women within the Ante natal and Post natal periods. An ability to demonstrate highly developed communication skills along with a high level of customer service is essential. Good computer skills are required.
You will need to be flexible, enthusiastic and well motivated.
An orientation and training programme will be provided.
East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for experienced Support Workers to join our Community Midwifery Team.
The applicants must be enthusiastic and passionate about the support of the postnatal mother/service user and baby in a variety of settings including in health centres and in peoples homes. You will be working closely with the community and specialist midwives to ensure a high standard of care in the postnatal period including providing infant feeding, emotional and clinical support. You will also be supporting the midwives with antenatal provisions including undertaking first point of contact appointments with service users.
Due to some elements of lone working the applicant needs to be an excellent communicator and self motivated in their approach to work.
Applicants must have Level 3 qualifications, preferably related to health care or unrelated with healthcare experience. A car is essential to be able to move independently between sites in a timely manner.
We provide safe, compassionate and high quality care to half a million people living or visiting East Sussex. We are one of the largest organisations in East Sussex, the only integrated provider of acute and community care in Sussex. Our extensive services are provided by 7000 + members of staff working from acute hospitals in Hastings and Eastbourne, three community hospitals in Bexhill, Rye and Uckfield, over 100 community sites and in people’s own homes.
In 2020 the Care Quality Commission rated us as ‘Good’ overall, and ‘Outstanding’ for being caring and effective. The Conquest Hospital and our Community Services are rated ‘Outstanding’. Eastbourne DGH rated ‘Good’.
In 2020, the Trust launched its ambitious ‘Building for our Future’ programme. This once in a lifetime programme aims to repair, redevelop and expand our hospitals, transforming the environment in which we provide care for generations to come.
Please refer to the job description attached.
If you have any questions about this position please do not hesitate to contact us.
Maternity at the Conquest is a friendly team who work hard to provide care to the local population. The community and caseloading teams mainly work from childrens and health centres so we can be close to the population we are seeing. As small teams we work cohesively with each other and other professionals such as Health visitors.
