Teacher recruitment and retention is at the heart of the DfE’s strategy and vision.

Two exciting roles are available within the Initial Teacher Training Funding unit in the Teaching Workforce Directorate. We are responsible for the end-to-end operational delivery of financial incentives to both attract and retain teachers in the workforce, with programmes currently worth c.£200m.

You will work on the high-profile delivery of key policies which support teacher recruitment and retention and attract high Ministerial interest.

**Job description**:
The successful applicants will be responsible for ensuring that robust financial assurance processes are conducted to demonstrate accurate and effective use of public funds.

The role requires the post holders to work effectively with colleagues across the division, the directorate, and the department, including other finance and policy colleagues. They will work closely with the rest of the team to enable funding to be delivered to ITT providers and schools in line with the financial incentives policy.

As this role includes completion of the Business Administrator Apprenticeship **(Level 3)** please check the eligibility requirements below using the apprenticeship standard: Business administrator / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education
- You must have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to apprenticeship start date and not be undertaking another apprenticeship at the same time.
- You must not already have a substantial amount of the skills and knowledge that is covered in the contents of the apprenticeship standard.
- You must not have already worked in a similar role, or your previous learning, and/or work experience covers the contents (Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours) of the apprenticeship standard.
- You already have all the skills and knowledge that is covered in the contents of the apprenticeship standard.
- You have already worked in a similar role, or your previous learning, and/or work experience covers the contents (Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours) of the apprenticeship standard.
- You have a degree (or equivalent) in Business Administration.
- Part of this apprenticeship is to complete a level 2 English and maths functional skills qualification. If you have already achieved GCSEs in English and maths at Level 4 (grade C) or equivalent or a higher grade, you will not need to complete the functional skills qualification.

At the enrolment stage, the individual's eligibility will be checked by the training provider.

- Good IT skills - Microsoft/Office 365

The successful applicants will be responsible for:

- Managing and implementing a suitable assurance process that demonstrates effective control of significant expenditure and ensures compliance with Grant Funding Agreements.
- Engaging and managing relationships with a wide range of external stakeholders to ensure compliance with funding agreements.
- Effectively communicating requirements to internal and external stakeholders via a range of channels.
- Developing technical funding manuals that set out the detail involved in translating the financial incentive policy into a deliverable process.
- Building and maintaining complex models in Excel to ensure accurate funding and provide robust audit trails for assurance.
- Handle communications and correspondence from a range of stakeholders, responding to queries in a timely and consistent manner.
