This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station) and working from home as a personal choice. Currently, a minimum of 2 days a week in the office.

**Job description**:
Beyond the principal responsibilities to the Delivery Team, the ILS Officer (ILSO) has a responsibility to support the ILS Manager (ILSM) to ensure that allocated Projects pursue a support strategy, which is compatible with current service policy.

This policy, promulgated by DE&S, will be reflected in the Project Requirements Set (PRS), which is produced by the MOD Capability Sponsor. The Project will subsequently produce the System Requirements Document (SRD), which will include the detailed support strategy developed by the ILSM in response to the PRS support requirements.

**Person specification**:
The ILSO is responsible to the Project Team (PT) of allocated Projects and appointed ILSM for managing and advising the Project on ILS product supportability matters. The ILSO will meet this responsibility through supporting the ILSM by ensuring support strategies, for both new and In-Service equipment, are effective, coherent and in accordance with Def Stan 00-600 & Support Solutions Envelope (SSE) (JSP886 Vol 1 Part 3).

Key responsibilities are as follows:

- Act as the Authority focal point on behalf of the ILSM to provide advice and guidance for all associated ILS issues utilising effective communication across MOD.
- Provide progressive ILS assurance via Support Solution Development Tool (SSDT) through collaborative working practices with wider TacSys resource and stakeholders.
- Ensure the Support Strategies for new and In-Service projects are in accordance with DefStan 00-600 and SSE.
- Ensure project design and procurement decisions are influenced by ILS fundamentals.
- Develop the ILS Strategy, ILS Plan and support element requirements within the URD/SRD for TacSys projects and monitor across Defence Lines of Development (DLoD).
- Review new formal ILS Deliverables (Plans & Reports) and provide comment to the ILSM as part of the Authority formal response process.
- With dedicated ILSM and Project Managers, agree the ILS Statement of Work/Requirement (SOW/SOR)/Use Study for Invitation to Tender (ITT) and assess contractor responses.
- Monitor all ILS activities, identify potential ILS Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies, Opportunities (RAIDO) and escalate as required.
- To ensure ILS RAIDO are incorporated into the project risk register.
- Report, by exception, any significant ILS RAIDO to the ILS Working Group.
- Monitor the progress of agreed ILS Milestones, ensuring the agreed course of action is being progressed against agreed delivery timelines.
- Attend ILS associated meetings as the ILS function rep, provide secretary duties including Minutes and/or Record of Decisions.
- Provide In-Service support advice pan PT, with support to operations the priority.
- Evaluation of Through Life Finance (TLF) including Whole Life Costs (WLC) / Cost of ownership (COO).
- Evaluation of supportability plans.
- Identify Government Furnished Asset (GFA), GF Information (I), GF Equipment (E), GF Personnel (P) and GF Facilities (F) requirements, to initiate supportability case.
