Are you looking for a rewarding role that helps to make a positive difference to people, places and the environment? If so, we’re looking for an experienced economist, planner, researcher or social value practitioner to join our newly created Economics and Social Value team.

As part of the Bidwells Planning Department, our Economics and Social Value team provides a wide range of socio-economic services which enable our clients to make the best possible case for new development. We help our clients to demonstrate the real value of their proposals, both to local economies and to the communities living nearby.

We use rigorous research, modelling and analysis to quantify the economic and social value of new development. We use innovative techniques to present our findings so that key decision-makers and local communities can engage easily with complex cases for new development.

We also support local authorities in planning for the practical implications of new development, using our expertise in demographic modelling and economic forecasting to advise clients on school place planning or social infrastructure provision to support future populations.

**Who are we looking for?**

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced colleague to help shape, manage and deliver the next stage of our team’s growth and development.

You are likely to have several years of professional experience, some of which may have been in consultancy, although that is not essential.
- Economic impact assessment;
- Socio-economics work as part of Environmental Impact Assessment;
- Demographic modelling and forecasting;
- Housing needs assessment, including older person housing need;
- Analysis of five year housing land supply;
- Social value measurement and monitoring;
- Option appraisal or cost benefit analysis; and
- Environmental economics or natural capital accounting.

**About you?**
- Deep personal integrity and a commitment to use your talents as a positive force for change;
- Sharp intellect, an enquiring mind and a creative approach to problem solving;
- Excellent analytical, presentation and report writing skills;
- The ability to explain technical economic ideas and principles clearly to clients and to other stakeholders;
- An organised approach and a strong work ethic;
- A demonstrable track record of delivering economics-related work to clients;
- Experience of developing new business opportunities and of helping to win work; and
- A genuine interest in and commitment to working for a values-driven consultancy business.

**Why Bidwells?**

We’re a different kind of business. Whilst we’re a major player in the property sector, Bidwells remains a privately-owned, independent business. We are a Partnership, with an inclusive, entrepreneurial culture which rewards and promotes our people.

This is an excellent opportunity to become an integral part of the Economics and Social Value team’s growth and success. The team are friendly, collaborative and allow everyone to have a voice. For the right person we will offer excellent career progression and the opportunity to manage future recruits.

**What’s in it for you**?
