**About The Role**

**About the role**

As Harbour Master - Forth and Tay, you will have responsibility for the daily management of the Marine teams and Statutory functions at the Ports of Leith and Dundee, the outer Forth Estuary, Port of Methil and Firth of Tay.

You will work closely with the Leith and Dundee Port Operations teams and the Forth and Tay Navigation Service to plan, implement and control the safe and efficient movement of all vessels. This will be primarily be within the Ports of Leith and Dundee, as well as Newhaven and Granton (under the remit of the SHA), and all approaches and anchorages.

**Some of your main responsibilities will include**:

- Promote a positive and safe workplace culture.
- Ensure that all shipping movements are carried out safely and efficiently in line with legislation and company policies.
- Take responsibility for managing costs in line with the Marine budget.
- Manage the teams overseeing the safe operation of the Leith Lock gates, the Pilot boat service at Dundee and the Conservancy requirements at the Ports of Leith and Dundee.
- Assume direct line management responsibilities for the Marine Managers at Leith and Dundee.
- Lead the Marine teams to deliver the best service possible.
- Drive a continuous improvement approach by analysing performance using our IT systems to establish where improvements can be made.

**What are we looking for?**
- STCW Masters certification or equivalent RN qualification at a senior level, HM Certificate or degree level education with relevant professional qualifications and/or Port Management experience to HM or Deputy HM level.
- Strong experience in a similar Marine Management role with the capability to lead, motivate and manage a team.
- Detailed knowledge of the Port Marine Safety Code, Port and River Byelaws and other General Byelaws.
- Ability to prioritise work tasks in an often changing port marine environment whilst demonstrating a positive attitude and the flexibility to be able to meet these challenges.
- Excellent planning, communication and analytical skills.
- Good IT skills with a sound practical knowledge of using Excel and MS Suite.
- Full UK driving license to allow you to travel between Ports.

**Required Criteria**
- The right to work in the UK
- Full driving licence, valid in the UK
- must have a good working knowledge of the Port Marine Safety Code
- understand Port and River Byelaws.
- STCW Masters certification or equivalent RN qualification at a senior level
