- **£91,474 - £121,548 per annum + on-call availability supplement**

**The Role**

We are looking for a permanent Consultant Haematologist. Based at the Borders General Hospital, this post will provide Level 2a Clinical Haematology together with non-malignant haematological care and clinical input into Haematology laboratory services. There is a reciprocal regional on-call service with colleagues from NHS Lothian.

The Borders Haematologists are active members of the South-East of Scotland Cancer Network (SCAN). Weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings are held by teleconference with colleagues in Edinburgh, West Lothian and Fife. There are agreed investigation and treatment protocols within SCAN. Participation in relevant NCRN and other trials is encouraged.

Within the laboratory, the Consultant Haematologist reports all marrow biopsy specimens and reports all significantly abnormal blood films which are referred by the BMS staff. Emphasis is placed on close liaison with BMS staff, hospital colleagues and GPs over abnormal results. There are frequent calls for advice from all sectors of the local health service.
