Age UK Maidstone, Sevenoaks and Tonbridge have recently merged. We are looking for a suitable applicant to join the senior leadership team.

To provide strategic leadership and to manage the Finance function for the recent Charity merged organisation.

To lead on the review and update all key financial processes, systems and reporting requirements in accordance with the Charity Commission legislation.

To review and develop comprehensive reports, including analysis and KPI information.

Attend the board meeting and report on the financial performance of the Charity.

To develop and maintain key internal / external stakeholder relationships (CEO, Chair, Board of trustees, Age UK National, and the Auditor.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, manage and develop the finance teams for the merged charity.

To lead on the review and update all key financial processes, systems and reporting requirements in accordance with the Charity Commission legislation.

To review and develop comprehensive reports, including analysis and KPI information.

Attend the board meeting and report on the financial performance of the Charity.

To develop and maintain key internal / external stakeholder relationships (CEO, Chair, Board of trustees, Age UK National, and the Auditor)

To be responsible for working with the CEO, board of trustees and lead on all strategic finance matters, this includes monthly accounting, reporting, budgets, annual finance planning process, compliance and governance matters.

Responsible for developing a continuous improvement program to update all finance processes, systems and policies, to drive the highest standards in compliance and governance.

To be the lead and responsible for working with the external auditor on annual audit process, preparation the audited accounts.

Work with the senior leadership team and set the managers budgets. Monitor financial KPIs and budgets, reviewing and reforecasting, as appropriate.

Maintain detailed insight into the financial position of the organisation, including monitoring cash flow, assessing the financial impact of proposed projects or policies, identifying opportunities for improvements, adjusting, and producing monthly management accounts and financial reports.

Provide financial advice to the CEO, Board and finance lead trustee to support the long-term financial viability of the charity.

Responsible for monthly management accounts to an agreed timetable (including P&L, forecasts, cash flow, balance sheet & a KPI dashboard) and communicate and share analysis, trends, actions with the CEO and Board.

Hold responsibility for payroll and pension including liaising with pension providers, HMRC and other agencies as appropriate.

Maintain and review the finance risk register & fixed asset register

Work with the finance team SLT as necessary to manage day to day finance processes, including invoicing.

Ensure the bank payments in a timely manner each month.

Work with the SLT to ensure the design and implementation of an appropriate full cost recovery and charge out rate model.

Manage procurement, financial control and quality assurance processes including embedding operational financial regulations, to ensure financial management best practices are upheld.

About you

Experience of working and presenting to board, trustee and other key stakeholder

One of the following qualifications: CCAB Recognised / CIMA/ACA qualified / Diploma in Charity Accounting / CIPFA Certificate in Charity Finance & Accounting or substantial equivalent experience.

Strong knowledge and experience accounting and financial management experience at a senior/board level with a proven track record in a similar role.

Strong practical/applied understanding of charity finance and the management of restricted and unrestricted income.

Experience of managing payroll

Excellent project management skills
