School Holiday Support Worker

Our 13-year-old client, who has complex Cerebral Palsy, is looking for a school holiday Support Worker who can support him out in the community, or whilst enjoying his favourite activities, bouncing on the trampoline, playing on his iPad and swimming. If you have at least one year’s experience in paediatric care, we would love to hear from you.

**The Role/Client**:

- M lives at home with his Mum. He has complex needs including cerebral palsy, dystonia and involuntary movements in all four limbs. He is non-verbal but is able to communicate using a Voice Output Communication Aid (VOCA). M is a wheelchair user who requires support for all activities of daily living including personal care.
- This role will involve moving and handling, mum will provide assistance where two carers are required.
- M uses a PEG for fluids and medication. Food is prepared by Mum and you will assist with feeding. M can take food orally but can experience difficulties so will require support to ensure he doesn’t choke or aspirate when eating.
- The role will involve facilitating play, accompanying M during trips out and supporting M in all activities, including swimming.
- You will receive full training in all aspects of our client’s care and be fully supported by M’s Case Manager.

**About You**:

- You will have a minimum of 1 year’s complex care experience working with children with complex needs which you may have gained in a Carer or Support Worker role or as a Teaching or Learning Support Assistant in a school or through personal experience.
- It is essential that you are a driver able to drive our client’s automatic wheelchair-adapted vehicle.
- There are times when M requires 2:1 support, such as when he is in his swimming pool, so a confident swimmer is a must.
- You will provide a supportive, engaging and child-centred approach to our client by following his care plan and helping him achieve developmental and rehabilitation goals.
- You will be kind, positive, reliable, and able to build a relationship of trust with our client and family.

**Pay**:

- £15 per hour on Weekdays.
- £17 per hour Weekends.
- £22.50 Bank Holidays (weekdays) and £24 Bank Holidays (weekends).

**Hours / Shifts available**:

- 32.5 hours per week, shift pattern as follows:
**School holidays**:

- Mon - Fri - 12:00 to 18:30 (6.5 hours per day).

**_ Additional optional hours to cover team member holidays or sicknesses are always available._**
