Personal Carer

**I am looking for a motivated, fun and dedicated person to provide 1:1 support to my 8 year old son who has ASD. To help him to access social opportunity, to keep him safe and to encourage him to enjoy play and crafts and generally get maximum enjoyment from his life.**

Experience of working with children and someone with ASD would be beneficial, but training to meet his needs can be provided. Hours are 4 per week term time, 6 in school holidays. 2 hours regularly on a Monday and Tuesday between 4.30 and 6.30 pm preferable. He has a twin brother who also has PA support so some time may be spent with him and his carer, some alone.

4 weeks paid holiday (pro rata) is provided (plus bank holidays).

Enhanced DBS for working with children is required (this can be provided if none in place). References will be required.

**Outline of role**: To provide support and assistance to my child, to enable him to achieve maximum personal benefit from his everyday life.

**Responsible to**: parent

In order to ensure the happiness and wellbeing of my child and to enable him to meet his outcomes, it is important that you are prompt and reliable.

My son needs to be kept safe whilst out in public, particularly around roads. He is happy to walk, but may try to pick things up from the floor and will need to be redirected.

**Task: Personal Tasks**

1. Provide guidance and help to use utensils when eating

2. Support with personal care (showering and dressing after swimming)

3. Support to fully participate in activities

**Social activities - as and when I ask**:
Assisting my son to participate in various social activities, as per my instructions, this may include going to the cinema, swimming, bowling, sporting activities, trips to the park etc.

This is not a list of everything that I may ask you to do. I may ask you to do similar sorts of tasks which are not listed above. Provided that my request is reasonable, I expect you to follow my instructions.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 4-6 per week

**Salary**: £10.50 per hour
