Specialist Grade in Haematology

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Haematologist to join a friendly, enthusiastic team at University Hospitals Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB), adding to our complement of Haematologists.

University Hospitals of Derby & Burton are seeking to recruit a Specialist Haematologist, who will provide a comprehensive service for the people of Southern Derbyshire and East Staffordshire.

The posts are based at the Royal Derby Hospital and Queens Hospital Burton which provide Cancer Services for the population of Southern Derbyshire and Southeast Staffordshire.

The Cancer Business Unit is proud to offer high quality clinical care within flexible and sustainable job plan structures.

A formal job plan will be agreed between the post holder and the Assistant Clinical Director by mutual consent.

Duties & responsibilities of the Post
1. Based at the Royal Derby Hospital / Queens Hospital Burton, to provide haematology services with responsibility for diagnosis and treatment of patients and the proper functioning of the department at middle grade level, with consultant supervision.
2. To have a responsibility for the continuing care and treatment of patients and personal performance of clinical duties as agreed in your job plan and teaching of staff in training, and the multidisciplinary team.
3. To maintain flexible arrangements for emergency cover.
4. Responsibility for compliance with personal continuing medical education activity as appropriate.
5. Participation and assisting in medical audit under local arrangements, the Trust’s Clinical Governance Processes, appraisal and in Continuing Professional Development.
6. To participate in the ongoing research programmes within the Directorate under supervision.
7. Responsibility for maintaining awareness of professional guidelines such as “Duties of a Doctor” and of the GMC Performance Procedures and acting in accordance with them.
8. Responsibility for implementing the Infection Control Policies as determined by the University Hospitals of Derby & Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB).
9. To perform any other duties within the doctor’s clinical competence or managerial skills which support the efficient working of the Directorate or Trust services.
10. Take an active part in undergraduate education.
