Trader (Fresh Meat)

**Hours**: 40 hours per week
**Location**: Hybrid - Home/ Office Based - office location could be Willenhall (West Midlands) or Talbot Green (South Wales)

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Fresh Meat Trader to join our award-winning team working within our Fresh Foods division based in the Midlands. Office, home, and hybrid working can be accommodated with this role.

**A day in the life of**

Supplying to an exciting and growing customer base across retail, wholesale manufacturing and food service sectors, as a Fresh Meat Trader you will be supporting the growth and development of our fresh meat offer, bringing in new business customers whilst maximising gross profit % and cash income.

**About the Role**

Our trading team is key to our success and as a Fresh Meat Trader you'll join our busy, fast-paced, and dynamic buying/sales team. We are on the hunt for traders and future traders to join our fresh meat category and would love to hear from anyone with relevant experience.

With great scope for customer portfolio management, development and expansion, the successful individual will gain new accounts and continue to develop & grow accounts that are established. The position will source new business, negotiate pricing/tenders, manage customer expectations and work closely with internal teams to promote & strengthen the company's market position.

**Key accountabilities**

**Reporting into the Senior Trading Manager you will be responsible for**:

- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand our existing client base
- Creating fantastic relationships with our suppliers and customer base
- Negotiating favourable buying terms with suppliers
- The effective minimisation and control of waste product throughout the supply chain
- Sourcing and procuring raw materials and finished products that comply with all relevant food safety, Quality, Authenticity, and legal requirements
- Sourcing and managing new products in accordance with strategic objectives
- Effective management of relevant administration processes
- Management and control of historical purchases
- Contribute to the development of the company's overall business strategy

**Key Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required**
- Demonstrable meat trading experience
- Understanding of BRC standard requirements
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to build strong relationships, influence, negotiate and persuade
- Commercially focussed, capable of delivering results in a cost-effective manner
- Good standard of numeracy, literacy, and IT skills
- High levels of self-motivation
- Results driven
- Full UK driving license
