**The Role**

Imperial Brands is an inclusive, innovative global FMCG business supported by 25,000 employees who are looking to recruit a UK Corporate Controller to join the Group Finance team in Bristol.

This role has full responsibility for the financial accounting, financial planning, liquidity and tax management for Imperial Tobacco Limited and various other Group companies. The entities involved include indirect holding companies. The role will oversee all relevant Group reporting processes, statutory reporting, regulatory submissions and country specific compliance requirements for these entities.

**Principal Accountabilities**
- Responsible for providing forward looking guidance to Senior Stakeholders for the management of the holding companies.
- Ensure adherence to all Group accounting and finance policies and procedures, ensuring they remain relevant, up to date and are fully compliant with current IFRS accounting standards and are clearly understood, applied and implemented by all accounting and finance teams across the Group.
- Ensure adherence to all external regulatory and compliance requirements, ensuring they remain relevant, up to date, fully complied with, clearly understood and implemented. This includes statutory financial reporting, statistical reporting, tax compliance and reporting. The role will require liaison with external regulatory bodies as part of any external enquiry or investigations.
- Monitor and control the financial control risks for the relevant companies, ensuring that Financial Control Framework compliance remains up to date, that minimum mandated control activities are operated effectively and that additional controls are developed and implemented where risk reviews indicate necessity. This will include ensuring that balance sheet reconciliations are prepared by the relevant finance team and conducting periodic reconciliation reviews with those team members covering all accounts.
- Develop a successful, integrated partnership with wider cross group local finance teams to ensure alignment across shares statutory reporting and financial controls and to work together on shares projects such as common cross group entity restructuring plans.
- Maintain strong relationships with the internal and external auditors for the relevant companies and also other accountancy and consulting advisors to ensure there is getting a balanced view on accounting developments, change and regulation.

**Skills and Experience Required**
- Strong experience within a plc environment of maintaining robust governance and financial control, managing and mitigating financial risk.
- A fundamental understanding of the legal, financial and administrative challenges to enacting changes to Group structures.
- A fundamental understanding of the Group’s internal financing processes.
- Strong technically skills and ability to break down complex company structuring challenges and advise other internal personnel of the key business and commercially implications of changes.
- Experience advising on and delivering high quality compliant accounting and company structuring requirements.
- Holding external auditors and internal and external service providers to account.
