**About The Role**

We are excited to be recruiting for a Young People Independent Domestic Violence Advisor to join a dynamic team. This role will provide crisis intervention and longer-term support to young people age 16-25 who are experiencing interpersonal domestic abuse. You will provide Healthy Relationship sessions to young people and assist with the development of groups for young people.

You will work directly with young people to provide them with an understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse, address the impact and empower them to move forward to live a safer and enriched life.

Part of the role will also be to establish positive, proactive and innovative working relationships with services providing support to young people and provide training and advise on the safeguarding of young people.

As the Young People Independent Domestic Violence Advisor you will be joining Hounslow Domestic and Sexual Violence Outreach Service. Hounslow Domestic and Sexual Violence Outreach Service exists to end the harm done through domestic abuse. Our aim is to prevent abuse as well as provide services to meet the individual needs of survivors. Our work is holistic and empowering, working alongside survivors to achieve independent and safe lives.

Hounslow Domestic and Sexual Violence Service sits within the Community Safety Team which is responsible for providing life-saving frontline services, co-ordinating work across different disciplines, strengthening partnership and collaborative work, implementing innovative projects and ensuring the Council fulfils its statutory duties to make Hounslow safer for everyone.

Within the service are a team of Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advisors, Parent and Child Domestic Abuse Workers and a dedicated team developing and facilitating groups addressing Violence Against Women and Girls in the borough. You will work alongside these workers jointly promoting the service and assisting with the Hounslow One Stop Shop, training sessions to partners and co-facilitating groups.

You will receive the full support from an experienced line manager and can expect a variety of development and training opportunities. You will also have access to external clinical supervision and peer support meetings.

**You will**:

- Have the ability to explain to young people the dynamics of healthy, unhealthy and abusive relationships
- Have experience in identifying risk levels using the Safelives Risk Assessment and developing safety plans
- Have the ability to explain clearly to clients, aged 16 - 25 how the criminal justice system, housing, benefits and key statutory agencies work in relation to domestic abuse
- Have the skills to gather information between agencies and then advocate the needs of young people with the ability to negotiate areas of
