**Job Title**:Learning Support Assistant

**Role**:To work as part of the Learning Support Team in supporting ALN pupils in mainstream classes.

**Line Manager**:Sara Strange/Cath Alger ALNCo

**Work in partnership** **with**:SLT;_Mr Stephen Morse, Head of Faculties; Head of Key Stage; Class Teachers; Parents and LA._

**Contract** 35 Hours per week, worked between the hours of 0800-15.30 term time only - 36 weeks a year.

**Holidays ** 4 weeks and 8 bank holidays pro rata (4 weeks in total)

**Pay ** **SS1 **£18,525.00 per annum (pro rata to **£14,164.50**)

**Pension**: Peoples Pension Scheme (PPS)

**Introduction**

Under the reasonable direction of the Principal, carry out the professional duties of a Learning Support Assistant as set out in the School’s contract and Education Workforce Council Professional Standards Document.

To support and maintain the high standards of pupil attainment and achievement; and monitor and support pupil progress.

Accountabilities:
Undertaking responsibilities as a member of the support team of the school, including duties.

The leadership, day-to-day management and high standards of the Learning and Teaching of pupil(s) in your care along with the setting, development and implementation of policies, plans, targets, practices and procedures related to the system within the context of the vision, ethos, aims and goals of the School.

The leadership, day-to-day management and high standards of Pupil Progress Tracking of pupil(s) in your care along with the setting, development and implementation of policies, plans, targets, practices and procedures related to the system within the context of the vision, ethos, aims and goals of the School.

The leadership, day-to-day management and high standards of your Continuing Professional Development. To lead, develop and enhance the support practice of yourself at all stages of your career, evaluating the quality of support and securing and sustaining effective supprt of your pupil(s).

**Area of Accountability A**:
**RESPONSIBILITIES AS A MEMBER OF THE TEACHING SUPPORT TEAM**

To promote the vision and aims of Kings Monkton School.

To provide professional leadership and operational management to secure:

- improvement in achievement and attainment for all pupils in your care;
- raising of aspirations and standards of learning and teaching;
- high quality provision of all services;
- effective deployment of resources;
- a safe and healthy environment for members of the school community; and
- outstanding levels of compliant behaviour and behaviour for learning.

To directly assist the Additional Learning Needs Coordinator with:

- determining, planning and implementing the direction of Faculty issues within the schools frameworks;
- meeting pupils and staff needs on a day-to-day basis;
- the supervision and control of pupil behaviour (compliance and behaviour for learning) around school at all times;
- IEPs and statementing processes and procedures;
- being a presence in your classes: a role model to all.

Generic expectations of all members of Learning Support Staff:

- act with professional integrity at all times;
- notwithstanding issues of confidentiality and tact, act with honesty and transparency with regard to your work;
- identify and improve those areas relevant to your role which need to move from good to outstanding;
- maintain those school policies and procedures relevant to your area;
- be present where required at meetings, performances and other functions / events;
- undertake a proactive part in:

- those activities that are part of the self-evaluation of the Faculty and your classes;
- casual and formal checking of uniform;
- being a presence around school and in your classes;
- appraisal, performance and line management systems;
- pupil voice and the Prefect scheme.
- set an example in undertaking a regular commitment to duties;
- work as part of a team, and accepting and supporting final Head of Faculty decisions;
- with regard to Faculty meetings;
- all members are expected to be punctual to and attend scheduled meetings unless prior agreement for absence has been given by the Head of Faculty;
- all members are encouraged to express their views, but are expected to work to the majority decision or the final decision of the Head of Faculty. A consistent message should be given to staff and pupils at all times;
- when requested to do so by the Head of Faculty prepare and present reports on progress / issues related to areas of accountability and responsibility;
- undertake specific tasks reasonably delegated by the Head of Faculty from time to time.

**Area of Accountability B**:
**APPRAISAL, PERFORMANCE AND LINE MANAGEMENT**
- To work with you Head Faculty, undertaking performance management reviews yearly in conjunction with the School’s policies and procedures;
