**Social media/PR/Communications coordinator**

20 hours a week - Monday to Friday with weekend/evening work when required. (time in lieu will be given). To work on site at the charity.

Teckels are looking to recruit a passionate, highly organised and creative individual to join our team.

The role involves creating and publishing on all of Teckels social media channels, managing the PR/comms, and website.

This is a very creative role and would suit someone who has an eye for design and great IT skills.

We are seeing an increasing number of dogs and cats needing our help, so would love to find someone who is equally as passionate about helping our cause as the rest of our wonderful team

**Job: Social media/PR/Communications coordinator**

**Contract**: 6 months fixed term initially
- scope to go permanent

**Hours**: 20 hours per week
- 4-5 days a week

**Salary**:£12 per hour

**Responsible to**: Centre Manager - Sarah Johnson

**Role summary**:
The role will be responsible for creating relevant, engaging and informative social media content, that helps to convey the charities missions and aims, as well as assisting with raising funds. Keeping social media channels and the website regularly updated and enabling the charity to get maximum impact from all supporters.

The role will work alongside and support the fundraising and events manager and volunteer coordinator.

**Main duties**:

- Ensure that all Teckels social media channels are regularly updated and provide a variety of engaging, relevant and informative posts in line with Teckels Aims and mission.
- Use social media to help raise funds to the charity through the use of donate buttons and by helping to promote any upcoming events or Fundraisers etc.
- To ensure all supporters or donors are thanked where possible through social media (following GDPR/permission regs etc.)
- Work closely with staff to produce engaging, appropriate images for Social media content.

Help gain and nurture influencers to promote the charity.

To maintain and update Teckels website; ensure animal rehoming profiles are current, events are advertised, post vacancies, success stories etc.
- To ensure that any images used/taken by us or other people are in line with our charities aims and mission/and are suitable for their intended audience.
- To actively seek opportunities to promote the good work of the charity and help the charity to appeal to a wider audience. e.g on the radio, TV, local press etc.
- To liaise with volunteers etc to help create any design content needed for social media posts/PR.

To design and create literature needed for promotion of the charity, such as posters, leaflets, banners and merchandise.
- To manage the feedback/responses of any comments/queries/complaints from the public on social media.
- Produce a Social media schedule of all major relevant events/public holidays/suitable media days. E.G world adoption day, National Volunteer week etc. And actively promote any upcoming Fundraising opportunities/events.
- Provide advice and support in instances where problems occur concerning grants/social media/press.
- To keep the website updated with current social media appeals/posts/updates.

Keep accurate records of donors, corporate partners and fund raisers (in liaison with the Finance Assistant), ensuring a formal system for expressing thanks and recognition, and contributing to regular supporter updates.

To keep information boards in reception varied and up to date, including animals available for rehoming, upcoming events, and anything else relevant.

To produce and distribute our quarterly newsletter.

Produce reports as requested by management.

**General**
- Act as an ambassador for the charity, promoting its work and presenting a professional image.
- Must be available to work flexibly around large events
- and work occasional weekend days when need, and the occasional evening.
- Maintain an awareness of best practice within Press/PR/Comms and grant giving, specifically within animal welfare charities.
- Operate in line with relevant legislation and Teckels policies, particularly in relation to children, vulnerable adults and volunteers
- Any other reasonable duties as required by the management and trustee team

**Person Specification**

**Essential Criteria**

To have worked in a similar role (ideally within a charity) or have relevant experience/qualifications.
- Excellent IT and administration skills including competent ability with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, Canva and design packages, video editing software.
- Full, clean driving licence
- GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
- Strong copywriting skills
- An excellent understanding of social media and engaging the relevant audience for the topic
- An understanding of Safeguarding, Risk management and safety requirements, particularly in relation to animals and their welfare
- Proven ability to plan and prioritise a varied workload in a methodical and organise
