We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced individual to join our team in planning and delivering group-based activity sessions for adult survivors of acquired brain injury and stroke.

You will lead a small team of support staff and volunteers to deliver sessions that address the learning objectives and needs of the group members. Often these relate to cognition, communication, executive and social skills as well as general life skills to aid independence.

The **main** duties of the role are:

- To lead planning and implementation of appropriate learning programmes for both groups and individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI) assessing the ability and needs of each individual, adapting learning programmes to suit flexible learning.
- To deliver effective structured rehabilitation activity sessions that contribute to client’s progress towards their individual goals, assisting in goal setting, observations and reviews.
- To motivate clients to take part in their rehabilitation sessions to improve clients’ confidence and self-esteem, encouraging clients to learn compensatory strategies for overcoming any difficulties related to their acquired brain injury.

We have locations at Dudley and Willenhall but you may be required to work at other locations across the Black Country as well.

JOB SUMMARY:
As a learning co-ordinator you will work with clients with acquired brain injuries, in groups and on a one to one basis. You will facilitate clients to set meaningful goals and to support their progress against those goals through skill development and compensatory strategies that enhance their independence. You will be responsible for developing, planning and delivering appropriate sessions for our rehabilitation groups. This will also involve tracking progress and carrying out reviews.

Main duties and responsibilities

1. To lead planning and implementation of appropriate learning programmes for both groups and individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI) assessing the ability and needs of each individual, adapting learning programmes to suit flexible learning.

2. To deliver effective structured rehabilitation activity sessions that contribute to client’s progress towards their individual goals, assisting in goal setting, observations and annual reviews.

3. To motivate clients to take part in their rehabilitation sessions to improve clients’ confidence and self-esteem, encouraging clients to learn compensatory strategies for overcoming any difficulties related to their acquired brain injury.

4. To work closely with staff and clients to draw together individual learning programmes, set goals, record outcomes and monitor progress. To carry out client reviews in accordance with Headway procedures.

5. Working with other staff to ensure the regular recording of quality computer based notes for each client, in grammatical English, to record goal progress, observations and reports.

6. Using our computerised records system to note any concerns or general information relevant to our support for individual clients; to share relevant information, concerns or issues with colleagues and managers.

7. To be involved in the risk assessment process and be aware of information from risk assessments carried out to ensure the safety of clients and staff and follow agreed instructions.

8. To be able to travel around the area of work to and be flexible as regards working hours.

9. To have good organisational skills along with good letter and report writing skills.

10. To have good IT skills.

11. To communicate effectively with all team members and to keep the Specialist Occupational Therapist fully informed of all developments, projects and proposals.

12. Attend appropriate training sessions and meetings, as required.

13. To participate in monitoring and audit procedures to assess and review the effectiveness of the service and the benefit to clients.

14. To follow all financial instructions and budgetary procedures of the organisation.

15. To actively promote Headway Black Country, the services provided by the organisation, its mission statement, aims and objectives.
