**Job summary**
**Why is this role important and how does it fit into the team, department and wider firm?**
To support the Information Services team as part of the wider Knowledge Management team. Information Services supports the legal and business research needs of the firm, with well organised access to reliable and up-to-date resources in a timely and cost-effective manner, to maintain and improve the quality of advice offered to clients.
This would be an ideal first professional post for an early careers graduate. There are also opportunities for development within the role, for example, partnering with a specific Target Market Group (TMG) and becoming their liaison in the Information Services team.

You might have enjoyed working from home and would like to split your time between there and the office/ other work locations. Others may be eager to return to the office on a more regular basis. Our expectation is that, **on average**, you’ll work from home for no more than three days per week, with the remainder of your time either spent with your colleagues in the office or working from other locations as work demands dictate, e.g. courts, client offices, conferences etc. This is an average expectation over time and we know that there will be variations from week to week. Equally, there will be individual circumstances in which a different pattern of work is needed, for example as an agreed reasonable adjustment for colleagues with a disability or long term medical condition.

**Person specification**
**What does the role actually involve?**
- Carrying out legal research using online and hard copy resources efficiently and accurately to a high standard
- Undertake and collate commercial research from a variety of sources
- Updating catalogue and loan records through the online database
- Assisting in the preparation and provision of current awareness alerts
- Updating and maintaining intranet pages
- Undertaking any other duties as required, commensurate with the level of the post

**What technical skills are required for someone to be successful and enjoy the role?**
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, including the ability to maintain databases and records using SharePoint (existing knowledge of SharePoint is advantageous, but training will be provided)
- Ability to work with a wide range of materials, including databases, books, journals and the Internet

- Good organisational skills and be able to manage own time effectively
- A proactive, professional and flexible approach to work
- Ability to work on own initiative whilst maintaining a positive team spirit at all times
- Accuracy in working to tight deadlines and able to adapt to changing priorities
- Knowledge or experience of delivering excellent customer service, eager to help users
- Keen to develop over a period of time with a willingness and ability to learn
- Previous experience in a legal/ commercial or information service would be an advantage but is not necessary as training will be provided.
